The Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages for advertising in the United States. Last year, 101.1 million people viewed the game, according to NBC. We can expect to see companies with deep pockets during TV time-outs.

The price tag for 30 seconds of airtime is a whopping $7,000,000. To put that into perspective, that’s more or less the production cost of one episode of Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, or The Mandalorian.

We are on the edge of our seats to see the trailer of an upcoming film or to check out what movie star will appear in a beer commercial. Viewers usually keep their bums glued to the couch and want everyone to mute themselves to hear the catchy phrases and bad puns. This is the only time of year when people don’t mute or pause their TVs during the commercials.

Movie Trailers

When it comes to trailers, there is no actual “roster” for trailers during the Super Bowl, but there are trailers that we expect (and hope) to debut. With over 100 million people watching, I’m sure that some studios will seize the opportunity.

The Little Mermaid

This year Disney is releasing another live-action remake of a classic: The Little Mermaid. In 2022, they released a short trailer that had us begging for more. Disney has been keeping their cards close to their chest on this one. Hopefully, they drop a new trailer while 100 million people are watching. The film will be released on May 26th, 2023.

MCU Phase 5

A lot is happening in the Marvel Cinematic Universe this year. We kick off with Ant-Man and The Wasp- Quantumania next week, followed by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Marvels. Lucky for us, we will also get a second season of What if…? and Loki this spring. In addition, Marvel Studios will also roll out the first seasons of Ironheart, Secret Invasion, Echo, and Agatha: Coven of Chaos. With such an extensive set list for this year, Marvel Studios are destined to show at least one movie trailer during the Super Bowl. Check out this article to see trailers and the MCU 2023 calendar.

Wonka

We caught word that Timothée Chalamet is starring in another movie this year, but we have yet to see a trailer for the prequel movie to Willy Wonka. My fingers are crossed, hoping for a trailer during the super bowl.

Elemental

A new animated movie is on the horizon coming from Pixar this year. Our first glimpse of Elemental was in November ‘22. I loved the trailer and am curious to see if Pixar will reveal a new trailer to tell us more about the plot. The movie will premiere on June 16th, 2023.

Creed 3

Less than a month after the Super Bowl, Creed 3 will hit the theaters. His fans are on the edge of their seats to see him act and what he has created. The film will be Michael B. Jordan’s first directorial debut.

Fast X

The 10th movie in the Fast & Furious franchise history will premiere this year. The Super Bowl is an excellent opportunity to hit its target market.

DCU Slate

This year, DC is bringing a lot to the table. DC fans are crossing their fingers for a trailer of Ezra Miller’s new film The Flash, set to release on June 23rd of this year. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a trailer for Shazam! The Fury of the Gods, Blue Beetle, or Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The plot and details of the movie have not yet been revealed.

Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

Get ready for a film packed with action and tastefully blended with humor. Originating from the iconic fantasy game Dungeons & Dragons will hit theaters on March 3rd of this year. It stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

Director Michael Bay continues to resurrect the Transformers franchise with another film this year. With the release date of June 9th, I expect to see a trailer during a TV time-out of the Super Bowl. The trailer is packed with action and has a dash of suspense.

With release dates around the corner, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a trailer for Scream VI, 65, John Wick: Chapter 4, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, The Super Mario Bros Movie, Extraction 2, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and Air.
