Can you believe it? It has been four years since The Originals’ last episode. The Originals ran from 2013 to 2018. So if you are wondering what they have been doing, don’t worry. I got you.
For those of you who don’t know what The Originals is, it is a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries, which is based on the L.J. Smith books. I watched The Originals but not The Vampire Diaries. I had so many issues with it that I couldn’t watch it. The Originals has no real books to draw from, so I could watch it and not pick it apart. You know what I mean?
The is another spin-off, Legacies. The Originals was about Klaus and his family and protecting his daughter, Hope. Legacies is Hope’s story. A number of The Originals alums have appeared in Legacies. I haven’t watched Legacies as it is geared more toward teens. However, not only do people from The Originals show up in Legacies, but people from The Vampire Diaries are in there or show up.
Let’s move on to telling you about what the cast has been doing. It seems as though everyone has had steady work. So here, let me show you.
Klaus, played by Joseph Morgan, has been in Gone Baby Gone (2018), Animal Kingdom (2019), Brave New World (2020), Titans (2022), and Legacies (2022), I don’t remember seeing him in, but I didn’t pay close attention while my husband watched. So how did he show up in Legacies? He’s dead. Don’t get me started on him and Elijah.
Elijah (who was probably my favorite character of the show), played by Daniel Gillies, has been in Marvel’s Thor: Metal Gods (2019), Occupation: Rainfall (2020), Coming Home in the Dark (2021), Virgin River (2019-2022), and The Newsreader (2022).
Hayley, played by Phoebe Tonkin, has been in Final Stop (2018), The Place of No Words (2019), Westworld (2020), Bloom(2019-2020), and We Are Gathered Here Today (2022). Phoebe has several projects that are not out yet, and I don’t know when. Babylon, Kid Snow, Transfusion, and Night Shift. She is currently filming Boy Swallows Universe, so there is no date for it to come out yet. I loved Haley. This is the second show based on L.J. Smith’s books that she has played in. The other is The Secret Circle. Unfortunately, it was like The Vampire Diaries. I couldn’t watch it because all I did was pick it apart because I hated it.
Rebekah, played by Clair Holt, has been in The Divorce Party (2019), A Violent Seperation (2019), Painted Beauty (2021), and Legacies (2021-2022). Unfortunately, Rebekah was probably my least favorite Mikaelson.
Marcel played by Charles Michael Davis and has been in Z Nation (2018), No Sleep ‘Til Christmas (2018), Chicago P.D. (2019), For the People (2019), Same Time, Next Christmas (2019), Kygo & Tina Turner: What’s Love Got To Do With It (2020), Younger (2017-2019), NCIS: New Orleans (2020-2021), and Legacies (2022). I wonder when he and Rebekah are going to drink the potion to have a mortal life.
Vincent/Finn Mikaelson, played by Yusuf Gatewood, has been in Good Omens (2019), Jacob’s Ladder (2019), The Equalizer (2022), and The Umbrella Academy (2020-2022). I love his character in The Umbrella Academy.
Camille, played by Leah Pipes, has been in The Perfect One (2018), Heatstroke (2019), Charmed (2019), A Beauty & the Beast Christmas (2019), 9-1-1 (2021), Exploited (2022), and Albacore (2022). She is currently filming Skill House. I was never sure how I felt about her in The Originals. Sometimes I found her to be a strong character. Other times I just wished she would go away.
Freya, played by Riley Voelkel, has been in Brampton’s Own (2018), Hightown (2020-2021), Scrambled (2021), Roswell, New Mexico (2019-2022), and Chicago Med (2022). I loved that she was an immortal witch as opposed to a vampire like her siblings.
Kol, played by Nathaniel Buzolic, has been in Saving Zoe (2019), Deep Blue Sea 3 (2020), Making Peace (2021), and Legacies (2022). He is also getting ready to work on Abbott Falls. I think Kol’s only redeeming quality is his love for Davina.
The patriarch of the Mikaelson family, Mikael, was played by Sebastian Roche. He has been a busy guy with projects. He has been in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2018), Strange Angel (2019), 6 Underground (2019), Batwoman (2019-2020), MacGyver (2020), The Colony (2021), Big Sky (2021), Debris (2021), Welcome to Forever (2021), Burning at Both Ends (2021), Magnum P.I. (2021), and Heatwave (2022). Projects he worked on that are coming out are Getaway, Cabinet of Curiosities, Lone Star Bull, and Grendel. He is currently filming 1923. I had no idea that they rebooted MacGyver and Magnum P.I. How can you have MacGyver without Richard Dean Anderson?
