It is well known that Pixar and Disney tend to dominate in the animation category. Their creations include Toy Story, Frozen, Up, Cars, Finding Nemo, Inside Out, Cinderella, Tarzan, and many more. However, it doesn’t mean that they win every time. Here are some other studios that have won against them.
Dreamworks Animation

Dreamworks Animation Studios is an American animation studio that is now a branch of Universal Studios. It was founded in 1992 and has created films such as Shrek, Madagascar, Chicken Run, Home, The Croods, and more. The studio has taken home three Oscars in total. The first one was in 1999. It was Best Original Music or Comedy Score for the movie Prince of Egypt. In 2002, the studio won the first-ever Best Animated Feature award with Shrek. The studios also won alongside Aardman Animations in 2006 for Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Dreamworks has been nominated a total of five times.
Animal Logic
Animal Logic is an Australian studio that was founded in 1991. Other works include Walking with Dinosaurs 3D, The Lego Movie, Peter Rabbit, Happy Feet, and Toto. Happy Feet won the 2007 award for Best Animated Feature. It’s the studio’s only win.
Paramount Animation

Paramount Animation is the animation division of Paramount Studios. It wasn’t founded until 2011, but its films include The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, Wonderpark, Rango, and Sherlock Gnomes. The studio won its first Oscar with the movie Rango. The award was for Best Animated Film in 2012.
Studio Ghibli
Studio Ghibli is a Japanese animation film studio that was established in 1985. Some of its works include Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, Ponyo, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and more. The studio has won one Oscar, and it was the studio’s movie Spirited Away that won the 2002 award for Best Animated Feature Film. The studio has been nominated a total of six times.
Sony Pictures Imageworks

Sony Pictures Imageworks is a Canadian branch of Sony Pictures that was founded in 1992. Films created by this studio include Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, James and the Giant Peach, Godzilla, Peter Pan, and more. The studios won an Oscar with Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse for Best Animated Feature in 2019.
