A while back, we talked about Core Keeper, the early access exploration title. It has elements of farming, crafting, and combat that is wonderful to explore. However, during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022, viewers were shown a different take on farming exploration games. Therefore, it is my humble opinion that we should be looking into Lightyear Frontier.
Lightyear Frontier is an open-world exploration game that supports up to four players in an online co-op. Players will find themselves crash-landed on a beautiful and abundant alien planet. Here they will expand their base and farm. Strange crops are ripe for the plucking, ready to be cared for, and wildlife to domesticate. Resources and materials can be used to expand your home and can be found in this vast world. While you are out exploring, you will discover hidden secrets. You can journey below the surface and perhaps find out who inhabited this land before you. Overall, there are many ways to spend your time in this title.
The second I saw this game, I knew I had to share it with others. The graphics are vibrant, and the story is compelling. The music played throughout the trailer is upbeat yet relaxing. Honestly, everything about it seems perfect. According to the Lightyear Frontier website, this game has no combat. Which I can live without considering there will be dangerous weather conditions and other challenges. It also appears that the mech suits players wear will be customizable.
There are also a variety of questions that come along with seeing this trailer. I am excited to learn why I left my old life behind to live in a mech suit and start a farm. Why is this planet so abundant but seemingly empty? Ultimately, I am excited to learn the answers to these questions and more upon release.
Odds and Ends
Lightyear Frontier is set to be released in early 2023. Gamers can enjoy this title on Xbox Series S/X and Windows PC; if you want to learn more about this title, head over to the official Twitter page.
