Chances are that if you’re on social media and into gaming, you would have seen the recent excitement surrounding Deltarune. That’s because, to the surprise of many, the second chapter was released on the 17th of September 2021. However, to those that are merely bystanders in everything, this may be a little confusing. This article aims to give you the background on Deltarune, and why it’s grabbed the attention of so many.
So What is Deltarune?
Deltrarune is the next game released by Undertale creator, Toby Fox. The first Deltarune chapter was released back in 2018, so fans have been waiting a long time for this. With seven chapters planned, there’s a chance that fans will be waiting even longer for everything to be released. Although Deltrarune has some of the same characters as Undertale, the game isn’t a sequel.
In Deltrarune, players take the role of a human named Kris, who lives in a town inhabited by various monsters. Kris isn’t the kind of person to talk, and ends up with no partner for a school project – until a monster talks in, called Susie. The two don’t get along at first but, due to a misstep when looking for chalk, the two end up stepping into another world – a world where they are seen as heroes, with the task to save it all.
How Is It Played?
For those unfamiliar with Deltarune or perhaps even Undertale, it is a roleplaying game. Undertale is famous for its charming characters, and the fact that the player can choose either violence, mercy, or a mix of both. Players choose what action they want to perform, and act accordingly. Players also have to avoid attacks by maneuvering a heart and avoiding missiles, triangles, dots, bones – really, whatever is being thrown at you.
Deltarune Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 are currently free to play, though Toby Fox has stated that when Chapters 3, 4, and 5 are released, he will be charging for the whole package. For now, however, players can enjoy the chapters (and the second chapter two alternative endings) for free.
Deltarune is available on PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Will you be playing the newest chapter, or have you already? Let us know in the comments, and check out the trailer here:
