Hey everybody, we are back. Today we are going to talk about Mouse. Mouse has a very special place in my heart. He is a good friend and a loving and fierce guardian. Mouse is Harry’s dog. Well, he was Harry’s dog until Maggie needed him.

At the beginning of Blood Rites, Harry was hired by Brother Wang to get a litter of puppies back. Didn’t tell him of the flying demon monkeys the threw their poop. Mouse was in that litter. Harry didn’t know what made them special. Once he got the litter back to Brother Wang he drove off. Mouse was hiding under the seat. Harry named him Mouse because he was as quiet as a church mouse, I believe is what Harry said.

Later on, Harry found out Mouse is a temple dog. They gain their power from thresholds. Since Harry generally has a weak threshold plus he doesn’t do anything conventional, Mouse adapted and found other ways to draw power. Though he seemed to get a power boost from living at the Carpenter’s house. He can wake people from enchanted sleep just by barking. They wake up ready to go. He can detect magic and is a competent fighter as well as a swift runner. He can also heal himself. After getting hit by a car, he was up in a few hours ready to take on a White Court vampire. He can form plans and follow directions to a tee. When he fights, he has a light blue light that comes and goes. However, like any other dog, Mouse loves to go for car rides.

People Harry knows, be it friend or foe, have often remarked on Mouse. “What is that?” “How do you have him?” “That isn’t a dog!” Those are the common ones. He has gathered a number of names. Chewbacca, Little Brother, Sir Mouse, and even Queen Mab addressed him formally as Guardian last Christmas.

Mouse has always been a good friend to Harry. Sometimes just letting Harry pet him for comfort. He has fought by his side and now watches over the one person Harry loves more than anyone or anything else in this world. Maggie. My favorite interaction between Harry and Mouse is when Lea turned Harry into a hellhound and Harry and Mouse got to have conversations. It gave Harry a good look into Mouse.

Mouse is definitely one of my favorite characters. I love that he lets Mister think he is the king of the castle and the patience and care he has for Maggie. He helped Harry put together Maggie’s bike at Christmas. This series makes me want a temple dog. What do you think? Let me know your thoughts on Mouse and having a temple dog in the comments below. Also, let me know who you want to see. Until next week…
