So, You Want to Hear a Story?

The Borderlands series takes place in 2864 AD, in a galaxy ran by several mega-corporations, including Atlas and Dahl. These companies have been at war with each other to lay claim to the planet of Pandora. It has been said Pandora is home to an alien Vault full of technology and wonder. Atlas was the first to take refuge on the desert-like planet. In reality, they were not equipped to handle the landscape, nor the strange wildlife that roamed the land. In the end, they quickly fled the scene.

Next up to bat, Dahl colonized the planet, pillaging minerals with convict labor and the esteemed scientist Tannis. One day, Tannis found evidence of the Vault but was quickly captured by Atlas’s military forces. Faced with utter defeat, Dahl fled Pandora, leaving trash and their slave labor behind. Now Pandora is full of bandits and the occasional ragtag team of mercenary Vault Hunters aiming to find the mysterious Vault. In the end, the Borderlands series does an excellent job at storytelling, looking at you, Marcus, and grasping the audience’s attention.

The Borderlands franchise has been in my life for over a decade. That being said, I have high expectations for this movie, as I am sure many of you do. There has been a lot of talk about the cast, and I have to admit, I am curious to see how this movie plays out. I do know one thing for sure; Jack Black will make a fantastic Claptrap. In the end, whether the film leads up to expectations or not, I sure hope Munteanu gets to yell out some of my beloved Krieg quotes.
