Magic the Gathering is such a fun game. There are monsters of all sorts, spells, and if done right, an absolute slaughter of your opponent. Every so often, however, they come out with an expansion of joke cards. They aren’t really supposed to be played with regular cards. I have done it though, to frustrating results. When using funny cards, you make a deck from them and play.

So far they have come out with Unhinged, Unglued, and most recently, Unsanctioned. Don’t worry. I will provide pictures. In this particular expansion, they came out with a box that has the five different mini decks in the colors of mana and includes creature cards, instances, sorcery, enchantments, and equipments. In this particular boxed set, you pick two of the mini decks and put them together to make a complete deck. Then the hilarity ensues. The rules are basically the same. Though they added being able to splice cards together.

I think my favorite part of the games with my husband is when he played Skull Saucer. It made him have to keep his head on the table. If he lifted it up, he sacrificed the creature. I screwed myself when I played the card Common Knowledge. Players have to ask permission to play any spell, that included everything other than mana. I kept forgetting that I had to do so as well. I sacrificed so many creatures.

My husband says he found the games and cards are fun and winning was great. AJ, my husband, said there wasn’t much difference in the mechanics of the game. Just that it was funny cards and goofy things to do. His favorite part of the games with me was forgetting to ask permission. In his games with Jack, our son, his favorite mix of cards was the bat scorpion. With his games with me, he made a bat cat. I will show you his favorite cards Infernal cards from the game.

My son Jack said the cards were funny as all get out. In his opinion, it allowed fun outside of the regular rules like with Cheaty Face. Enter the Dungeon was his favorite card because you play two games. One is played on the table and another one beneath the table.

No matter if you are playing with the regular cards or the funny ones, Magic is a great game. The silly cards just make it even more fun. The games with AJ, and then watching AJ and Jack play was a laugh a minute. When AJ pulled the card again, he discarded it. He wasn’t trying to do that again. Try Unsanctioned Magic. You won’t regret it.
