The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Episode 4: “The Majestic 12” Review

Five and Diego have infiltrated the Majestic 12, but made a bigger mess than planned on this episode of #TheUmbrellAcademy.

In the previous episode of The Umbrella Academy “The Sweedish Job” we discovered that the crazy girl who seems to be in love with Diego is actually the Handler’s daughter. What makes this relationship even crazier is that the Handler took Lila from her biological parents after having them assassinated. Years later she turned that same little girl into a grown assassin. With this new knowledge, it’s hard to say if she genuinely loves Diego. Another fun fictional fact about Lila, she killed her prom date. We will just have to see overtime how real her love for Diego is. So far she has saved him from his father, but that doesn’t mean she won’t leave him for dead for her mother or number five. Her new assignment is to protect number five at all costs will make it challenging to hide her secret and prove her love for Diego.

Allison’s decision to save Raymond only drove him away. It wasn’t enough that she saved his life, but telling him the truth would open another wound. Allison thought that compressing her powers would give her the love and happiness she longed for, but the truth is she can’t live a normal life. It’s not her fault that she was born with those powers. Instead of letting Raymond believe the worst, Allison should’ve stood up to him and came clean about who she is. If he really loves her, he would love her even if she has superpowers. No one understands Allison the way that Luther does. Even though he mopped about Allison moving on to get married, he’d rather see her happy. The good news is that even when other’s turn their back on her, she still has Luther.

Vanya thought that it would be a good idea to find her family so that she could find out more about who she is. It was the lies and shutting her out that made her nearly kill everyone in the first place. I don’t know why they wouldn’t want to be a better family to her by telling her the truth and show her abilities in a good way. I grew frustrated that Luther simplified what she did as her getting mad and blowing sh** up. That’s not who Vanya is, she could be a hero if they let her. When she told Sissy that she would have to leave again, Hylan ran away and nearly died. It was her powers that saved him. Vanya’s powers could be the answer to stopping doomsday. While she is still being undervalued by her family, Missy took the initiative to express her love and appreciation for Vanya with a warm kiss.

Klaus sobriety record was impressive, but after taking a hit from his future military lover, he decided he couldn’t be sober anymore. I believe that fighting in the war along with dealing with childhood trauma caused him to go this route in the first place. If it wasn’t for all of the pressure and homophobic slander, Klaus would’ve had a chance to save him.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I loved that this episode showed the upbringing of Lila, It’s good to know that the Handler has some love in her heart. It’s going to be interesting to see how Diego will react to Lila’s urgency to aid five even though he made it clear that he doesn’t trust her. Five has worked at the Commission for so long that if she somehow slips up he will be the first to figure it out. I wondered why Diego was such a hard a** in season one. It’s because when he is loved it doesn’t work out. His love died in season one, his mother died, and now his new lover is the daughter of the handler. This kid can’t get a break. I thought that it was weird that Grace is a real woman, not some programmed mother that Sir. Hargeeves designed to care for his adopted children. I can’t wait to find out what really happened to her and why he had to design a robot like her. I also loved this episode because Vanya gets a real chance at love again. She was betrayed by Leonard in season one and if it wasn’t for the accident ruining her memory, I don’t think that she would’ve had the heart to love someone again. Sissy and Hylan make her feel wanted and need which is something she never had before. I’m still holding on to the idea of Sir. Hargreeves knowing about the future and his kids coming to save the world. Five spoke to him at the end, but my subtitles weren’t on. Let’s hope for a better family reunion.
