Fiona opens episode 5 by promising Ford she would meet him at an art exhibit he bought tickets to months before. After telling him she won’t be late, she heads off to take Ian to a meeting with his lawyer to decide his plea. After the meeting, Ian storms off because he’s mad at Fiona for trying to make him plea insane, but she’s worried he will get more time if he doesn’t. Fiona tries to find Ian, scared he’s fleeing, and misses the exhibit with Ford. Eventually, the day of the hearing, Ian finally decides Fiona is right and makes a plea of insanity.
Ian is conflicted on whether he should stay and try to get a reduced sentence or if he should run like Mickey did. After paying a quick visit to Mickey’s father to ask him what prison was like, he dyes his hair black and decides to run. After only being missing for a day, he comes to his senses and realizes that his family is behind him and it’s time to face the consequences.
Debbie decides she’ll do whatever it takes to get back with Alex, including setting up a breakfast date, but after Alex spends 8 hours talking about her ex-girlfriends, Debbie can’t take anymore and tells Alex it’s not going to work. She takes a trip to Fiona’s apartment building to ask her lesbian neighbors how they knew they were gay and after a brief kiss with one of them, she leaves looking more confused than before.
Carl’s all dressed up for a gathering of West Point applicants. The soiree is going great, until he meets a girl who happens to be the daughter of the host. He drinks with her and follows her to her bedroom where she tries to have sex with him, but passes out. After getting him kicked out of the party, she follows him back to his house to return his phone and tells him she know he didn’t take advantage of her.
Frank wakes up in Kev and V’s bar, but after peeing brown and passing out, they take him to the hospital. The doctor tells Frank his body is rejecting his liver because the medicine has stopped working. He decides to start taking a generic brand of a new medicine, but the side affects include erectile dysfunction so Frank spends the episode trying to get a hard-on. In the end, the only thing that brings him back to his old self is a crazy woman at the hospital who attacks him.
The youngest Gallagher Liam, thinks he had sex with a girl from his school but he isn’t sure because he went into a dark closet with her. Eventually she shows up saying she’s pregnant and plans on moving into the Gallagher house. Fortunately, since it had only been a day since Liam was with her in the closet he know’s the baby isn’t his, but how does he get her out of the houese?
As season 9 ramps up to be one of the craziest seasons yet, what lies in store for the Gallaghers and will this really be the last season for Fiona (Emmy Rossum) and Ian (Cameron Monaghan)? Stay tuned for updates on TGON!
