Tips on Playing Path of Exile for Beginners

Despite having numerous exiles playing Path of Exile at any given time, it’s is not the type of game that’s easy to get into. Most players in the community have had years of experience playing the game and are experts when it comes to builds, using the massive skill tree to their advantage, and many more nuances of the game. It’s hard to maximize your PoE experience if you’re still a beginner with no inkling or experience of what you’re about to get into. Despite being called an imitation of Diablo II when the game first got released back in 2013, many people stuck with it until the action RPG finally saw some progress from the developers. They figured out how to make PoE currency more attainable, but at the same time making players work for it, and the economy soon grew as big as (if not bigger than) other popular RPGs. There are always new builds that players can tinker and experiment with, making every playstyle a fresh new experience.

So if you want to get into playing Path of Exile, then this guide is for you! We’ll be talking about why you should play the game, what to keep in mind when playing the game, and how you can make your Path of Exile experience even better!

  • Don’t Use Up All of Your Orbs Immediately

One mistake that’s common to new players is that they spend their PoE Orbs right at the onset. All types of orbs carry significant value and using that while still learning the game would be a waste. Instead, store all of the orbs that you’ve collected during this time until mid-game. Mid-game is usually the time where you outgrow your equipment, so that’s the best time to use the orbs since they’re mainly used to purchase leveling equipment.

Chaos Orbs are more valuable than other orb types. Instead of using these orbs to roll stats on rare items, it’s better to save them. Using it to craft low-level items or taking a gamble with a high-level one would just be a waste. This goes the same for Exalted Orbs as well. Avoid using or consuming these orbs unless you really know what you’re doing; since you’re a beginner, it’s best that you keep them in your inventory first. Trust us: Trading these orbs for equipment in the future is the best option to take.

  • The Game is Free

Path of Exile is a free-to-play game with an ethical micro-transaction shop that’s well taken care of by its developers, Grinding Gear Games. Most free online games just tend to milk the players’ money, but Path of Exile is a rare exception. It’s fairly accessible too. You can easily download the game on Steam and it’s compatible with Linux as well. The best thing about Path of Exile is that there’s always something to look forward to. Every few months or so, the game is updated with new content to play in the form of Leagues. These Leagues offer new kinds of playstyles to try, new stories to tell, and all sorts of items to discover that weren’t even there before.

  • Configure Your Settings

Tinkering your settings could save you in the future. Going to the Options menu and changing your settings can not only help you get a lag-free experience but also boost your framerates. Disabling the dynamic resolution is usually what most players go for since having it on despite it being recommended by the game just makes the lag even worse. Changing your network work also helps if you usually have low fps spikes while playing.

Final Thoughts

There’s one word to describe PoE: unique. There aren’t a lot of ARPGs to delve into, but Path of Exile remains one of the largest games carrying the genre—and it’s easy to see why. Tons of content, a large community willing to help new players, and a balanced economy. These key components help etch Path of Exile into the collective psyche of gamers from all over the world. Truly, it’s deserving of the title “best ARPG to date”!

I think this is a good concept of a game that’s still has potencial to develop itself. But ARPG players don’t get it because is really hard. Therefore, we need guides like yours so we can actually know what to do. Good job! I hope to see more Path of Exile Tips.

  2. ARPGs are quite hard and fun if you actually know what to do. You can find a lot of Path of Exile Tips in Wikis or in websites like Seller and Friends. I used it a couple of times
