With the recent surge of media attention on the murders of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd by the LMPD and MPD respectively, the backlash against TV glorifying cops as the “good guys” has been swift and ruthless.
On Paramount Network, the long-running Cops canceled after 31 years. The same network also canceled Live P.D. a few days later. Copaganda is being shunned by viewers’ left and right.
And then there’s a show like L.A.’s Finest.
Passed on by NBC in 2018, the show found a home in cable network Spectrum’s originals lineup. A loose spin-off of Bad Boys II, the show stars Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba as detective partners in the major crimes division of the LAPD. While the second season was set to debut June 8th, the national backlash against police departments and the calls for #AbolishThePolice and #DefundThePolice have made it difficult to ignore the voice of the people.
Because of this, Spectrum Originals made the decision to delay season 2 until a date to be determined later this year. Perhaps the cable juggernaut will announce a date in the coming weeks but until then, check out the trailer for Season 2:
