Oscars 2020: Here Are Your Nominees

Oscars

It’s time again for the biggest night in Hollywood — the Academy Awards! After a tough awards season with many frontrunners, snubs, and surprise the whole of the entertainment world had their eyes on these nominees.

Joker leads the pack with 11 nominations. Bong Joon-Ho’s critical masterpiece  Parasite also racks up several nominations, and he may potentially follow in the footsteps of Alfonso Cuarón last year, who won Best Director and Best Foreign Film for Roma. It is possible that Parasite could win Best Foreign Film and Best Picture (making it only the 6th time in history that has happened), but it already makes history as the first film from South Korea to get Oscar attention.

Noticeably absent from the directing categories are the women of this past year — Greta Gerwig for Little Women, Lulu Wang for The Farewell, and Olivia Wilde for Booksmart.

Scarlett Johannson has two nominations in the Lead & Supporting acting categories, for Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit respectively.

Knives Out sneaks in there with a nomination for Original Screenplay, which I’m happy to see but personally I think it will have a tough time beating out Marriage Story

My pick for Best Picture this year goes to Parasite, but I think any of these films have a fair shot at the title.

Here’s the full list of nominations:
