Must See Movies Coming Out This Fall

I love a good movie and this fall doesn’t seem like it’s going to disappoint. So many stars will be flying around, I’ll get dizzy trying to see them all. There are a number of creepy, scary and horror/comedy movies. There are some that will pull the heartstrings. There are even a couple quirky movies.

Doctor Sleep is the sequel to the 1980 movie The Shining that starred Jack Nicholson and Shelly Duvall. Ewan McGregor plays the now grown-up Danny Torrence. He meets a girl with powers similar to his own. The group is known as The True Knot hunt and prey on children with power. Both books were written by Stephen King so you know it’s going to be quality. Doctor Sleep is in theaters November 8th, 2019.

Zombieland Double Tap is one I am ultra excited for! I absolutely adore the first Zombieland movie and cannot wait to see what antics and shenanigans are in store for us in this one. Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, and Jesse Eisenburg all are back. Plus Rosario Dawson, Dan Aykroyd, and Luke Wilson will also be starring in Double Tap. Somehow, someway, Bill Murray is returning. Zombieland Double Tap is due out October 18th, 2019, just in time for Halloween! .

Knives Out looks to be an absolute hoot! It looks like a live-action game of clue gone horribly wrong. It stars Chris Evans, Daniel Craig, Jamie Lee Curtis, Christopher Plummer, and Don Johnson. Let the chaos begin! Knives Out hits theaters November 27th, 2019.

Ford V Ferrari is something up my husband’s alley more than mine. It is the story of Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles building a completely unheard of car to race Ferrari in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1966. It stars Matt Damon and Christian Bale. It is set to be in theaters on November 15th, 2019.

A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood stars Tom Hanks and tells the story of the relationship between Fred Rogers and Tom Junod. It is to be released on November 22nd, 2019. I love every trailer I have seen.

Honey Boy is Shia LaBeouf’s story of himself. It’s his story from his perspective about his relationship with his father and the state of his mental health but using different names. Shia LaBeouf plays James and Lucas Hedges plays Otis at 22 with Noah Jupe playing Otis at 12. Another one in November. Opening November 8th, 2019, I bet this preview will tug at your heartstrings.

The Lighthouse is a black and white film about two lighthouse keepers on a remote, lonely island where mysterious things are afoot. Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe star along with Valeriia Karaman. I for one cannot wait to see it! It looks dark and creepy which I love in a movie! It’s storming its way into theaters on October 18th, 2019.

Jojo Rabbit is one I have no idea why I want to see. I don’t normally go for this kind of humor. Somehow I find this one funny and endearing. It is set in WWII it follows a German kid as he learns how to be a Nazi and then he finds out his mom is hiding a Jew. His best imaginary friend is none other than Adolf Hitler but kinda fabulous is very intriguing, to say the least. It stars Stephen Merchant, Alfie Allen, Rebel Wilson, and Scarlett Johansson.  It will be skipping into theaters also on October 18th, 2019.

The Goldfinch is almost here. September 13th, 2019, which is next weekend is when it hits theaters. It is a movie based on a book of the same name written by Donna Tartt it is about a young boy struggles to find his place in the world after his mother was killed in a terrorist attack. It stars Nichole Kidman, Finn Wolfhard, and Luke Wilson.

Ad Astra is a space movie I really want to see. I’m not really big space movie person, but this one really piques my interest. Astronaut Roy McBride must take a mission that will answer the questions of his missing father in order to save the universe from an experiment his father started thirty years ago. Starring Brad Pitt, Liv Tyler, Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland, and John Ortiz it is sure to be a great movie. It comes out September 20th, 2019.

21 Bridges is about a detective that has to rise above his disgraced image and help solve a manhunt after a cop killer on Manhattan Island. All of the bridges in Manhattan were shut down for the first time in history. It stars J.K. Simmons, Chadwick Boseman, Taylor Kitsch and Sienna Miller. It is to be in theaters on November 22nd, 2019.

Gemini Man is one I am super excited for. Will Smith plays two characters that are both the same person just one is younger and the other older. Younger self is trying to kill older self while the older self is trying to save the younger self. Confused? Check out the trailer and you’ll understand quickly. This movie slides into theaters on October 11th, 2019.

Queen And Slim is a movie about a really long, pretty bad first date. A couple finally goes out on a first date and the unfortunate death of a cop changes things drastically. It stars Jodie Turner-Smith and Daniel Kaluuya and is due in theaters November 27th 2019.

Are you excited for any of these or did I miss one I should have on this list? Let me know in the comments below. Til next week…

I am a wife, mother, writer and nerd. My dad cultivated my love of sci-fi as a child and I haven’t looked back since. I love myth and magic. I am an avid reader and love TV and movies. I love the movies Willow and Legend and the Star Trek ones both old and new. Laurell K. Hamilton, who writes the Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series, and Jim Butcher, who writes the Harry Dresden series, are probably my top two favorite authors. I love learning and writing about mythology and there is so much out there to learn, see and imagine. Come fly away with me.
