Spoilers will be talked about below, so please be sure to watch the latest episode before reading on! This review is based off of the dub version of Super that currently airs on Toonami.

After last week’s Frost centric episode it only made sense that in Episode 108, we finally see what Frieza is scheming now that over half of the Tournament Of Power fighters have been eliminated. On top these we even got a minor update between Goku’s fight against the red fighter from Universe 2 and her love-centric attacks. So without further ado lets get on with the recap and review!

First up, we’re with Goku taking on that red fighter of Universe 2. Weirdly enough, she’s evenly matched with Goku and her love-centric moves are giving Goku a run for his money. As this is happening, there’s chatter up in the spectator stands amongst all the Kais, Gods of Destructions and their respective Attendant Angels. For the ones who don’t have to worry about their universe being destroyed by the Omni-Kings, they are freely critiquing each fighter and their abilities and give the edge to both Universe 6 and 7, however Universe 11 seems to be a solid underdog in their eyes with 3 of their fighters left yet it’s 3 of the stronger fighters of the tournament. While Goku is still dealing with the Universe 2 fighter cut over to his son Gohan, who’s under attack by a robot fighter — I think this robot was from Universe 2 as well, not exactly sure?

Gohan, luckily, makes short work out of the robot and eliminates him with a Kamehameha; but suddenly however a Yadart, from Universe 2, shows up and picks a fight with Gohan. The Yadartians of Universe 7 are known for their Instant Transmission technique and are the ones to teach Goku the move all those years ago after the Namek Saga, and this Universe 2 Yadart is no different. He starts ping ponging Gohan around easily with the move, and things are looking dire for Gohan when suddenly he is saved by the most unlikely of teammates. It’s Frieza!

Frieza, simply breaks up the scuffle and resets the fight to even ground between Gohan and the Yadart, allowing the two to continue fighting. Gohan is still at a disadvantage agains the Yadartian, even though he is doing his best against him. Nothing seems to be working though, well that is until Frieza changes his mind again out of boredom and finally switches out with Gohan and fights the Yardtian!

Frieza is ruthless and a pure savage agains the Universe 2 fighter, countering each of his Instant Transmission attacks. This is all being commented on by everyone in the stands, with the Universe 2 team afraid of Frieza entirely, including their God Of Destruction! Frieza eventually grows bored of the Yadartian and fires an almost lethal ki blast at him. Everyone panics and think’s that Frieza killed him, but instead Frieza actually attacked all of his vital weak points enough so that he’s still alive for the time being. He has no idea though that if he’ll survive after he’s eliminated. And with that, Frieza simply tosses him aside out of the ring.

From here, you would think the episode is over and Gohan has an uneasy alliance with Frieza and whatnot. However, it’s not. Frost suddenly appears and it looks like that Frieza/Frost team up alluded to episodes back is actually happening and it’s against Gohan! It’s deduced by Whis and the others, that Frieza is actually after the Super Dragon Balls and wants to wish for power that’s greater then the Omni-Kings! And the only way for Frieza to get this wish is for him to strategically have Universe 7 win and for him to be the final person standing for the team. With the deal between Frost and Frieza in place, Frost allows Frieza to go after Gohan but he has a Ki beam ready incase Frieza tries anything.

It’s clear that Gohan is no match against Frieza, as he toys with Gohan, constantly belittling him and saying he is nothing like his father, Goku. He want’s Gohan to unleash his true power and the second generation Saiyan actually does, by going Potential Unleashed. This make’s Frieza counter the power boost by going into his Golden Form and delivers a knock out attack to the back of Gohan’s attack, taking him down!

Frieza then presents his Golden Form to Frost who is in amazement by it. Frieza goes to his Universe 6 counterpart and tells him that he might not be able to attain this form but there is another, the Full Power form, which he demonstrates it to Frost. Frost then tries it and attains the form. Frieza gives him a little lecture about the forms and power and then makes a sly remark that he shouldn’t trust anyone. And with that Frieza, blast Frost out of the arena!

Turns out everything Frieza did was just a ruse against Universe 6! Gohan wasn’t even knocked out, just faking it and Frieza wasn’t at all trying to hurt Gohan, he was pulling his punches! Gohan knew instantly after the first punch by Frieza minutes earlier, there was no force behind it and then just played along to trick Frost into lowering his guard. Beerus breathes a sigh of relief in the stands, but Frost — now in the stands — is so pissed off at Frieza that he’s about to fire a ki beam back but the Omni-Kings step in and erase Frost from existence! Champa begins pleading with the Omni-Kings that it won’t happen again and they remind him that if it does, all of Universe 6 is eliminated. On Universe 7 side though, Whis still reminds everyone that Frieza could be up to something still like they’ve all suspected before his deception with Frost. We then end the episode back with Goku taking on the red fighter from Universe 2. I have a hunch, that we’ll spend all of Episode 109 with this fight next.

So as you can see, with only 30 minutes of the Tournament Of Power left the tension is rising. Especially as it is the case with Frieza and his schemes. It’s clear that he’s planning something big and it may most likely be as Whis has deduced to the others earlier. This is honestly, the clearest we’ve had to any kind of subplot within the current saga. I most likely think Frieza will be one of the last fighters of Universe 7 left alongside either Gohan, Vegeta or of course, Goku. I’m glad that Cabba got some moment of screen time, but it was at the expense of Top hitting him through a bunch of boulders, sigh. Overall though, I really liked how fast the episode moved and it did not drag on for too long. However I did notice that Frieza’s voice sounded slightly off compared to usual and he had this annoy sound whenever he walked. Best way to describe it was like it sounded like how a duck or penguin would walk on dry land.

My guess for the next elimination, would most likely be either Universe 2 or 4, but we’ll see. At this  point anything can happen in the Tournament Of Power for shock value like how Frost was erased just like that. I actually kinda liked the guy and how villainous he became, even though he was weaker then Frieza obviously.
