We pick up Episode 99 exactly where we left off in Episode 98 with the erasure of Universe 9 at the hands of the Omni-Kings. The fighting itself in the massive battle royal comes to a standstill as everyone is in shocked over what just happened, with most of the attention being directed up above at the Grand Minister and the Omni-Kings. Did the fighting resume between the 7 other remaining universes and were there any other more shocking eliminations to occur as well? Lets get right into our recap and review shall we?

Shortly after everyone looked up at the most powerful beings in all of the universes, Beerus, Supreme Kai and Elder Kai are begun to provide commentary on the situation. Beerus was in pure shock over it while Supreme Kai was trying his best to feel the energy of Universe 9 but he couldn’t sense a thing. Elder Kai, simply stated that that Universe is completely gone. Whis however wasn’t as worried about it all like one would think, that’s because even if Goku teams fails and Universe 7 is erased from existence, he’ll still be around. The same situation was occurring also with Universe 6, as Champa started to have a word with Valdos — Whis’ sister — about the whole thing.

On the battlefield, all fighting has stopped and everyone is stunned. Goku and Vegeta are staring intently at the gods above and realizing how serious it’s gotten, and the same can be said about Gohan and the other Z fighters that stuck together as a group. Frieza however, monologues to himself that he will one day have the last laugh against the Omni-Kings and be just as powerful as them. And on the flip side, both Androids 18 and 17 are discussing strategy with each other with their belief being that they are androids they will have an unlimited energy pool to draw from compared to all the other fighters. They won’t get tired.

Up above, the Omni-Kings are wondering why the fighting stopped but the Grand Minister assures them both that the fighting will continue in a few seconds. And that it did, with Universe 6 actually going on the offensive first with Botamo and Magetta targeting Vegeta — it’s implied that Hit went after Goku while the rest of Universe 6, Cabba, Kale and Calufia are fighting other fighters. At first Vegeta has the upper hand against Botamo and ties him up, but then Magetta gets the dropped on him. Vegeta then begins to trash talk Magetta — his one weakness — but Botamo cover’s Magetta ears and stops Vegeta from getting the upper hand.

The episode then cuts to Krillian against a Universe 10 fighter who fires a beam right at him but it gets deflected by Gohan who makes the save and launches a ki blast of his own at the Universe 10 fighter, and effectively getting a ring out for them. Next up, we catch up with Android 18 and her fight against a Universe 4 fighter. She effectively whoops his ass so badly that he falls down. 18 isn’t worried that she may have just killed someone, but Beerus and the others in the stands are since that will rule an automatic ring out against 18. However, the Universe 4 fighter was simply faking it and was able to launch 18 off the arena floor! Krillian, thankfully, saves his wife and they both land back on the arena and double team the Universe 4 fighter with a new ki technique similar to playing volleyball with each other with their opponent trapped in the ki relay. With this technique they easily score a ring out against Universe 4 but another Universe 4 fighter joins the fray against the husband and wife duo.

Krillian at first wants to make short work against him, and uses his famous Solar Flare technique to blind him. But fails due to the Universe 4 fighter being actually blind! Krillian then deduces that the Universe 4 fighter is using his sense of smell to track both him and 18. So Krillian in a gutsy performance, charges head first against the blind Universe 4 fighter. They’re dead even in match up until Krillian literally throws his shoe at the guy and it lands directly on his nose. The smell is so bad that it renders his sense of smell no more and Krillian easily blasts him off with a simple kamehameha for the ring out against Universe 4! Krillian starts gloating in his victory with his wife, but before he and the rest of Universe 7 can celebrate, he gets tossed out of the ring and into the stands by none other than Universe 6’s evil Frost! We end this episode with this shocking elimination for Universe 7 with both Beerus and 18 stunned by it!

There was a lot of moving parts in Episode 99, be it from the dramatic opening moments between all of the deities coming to grips with their own mortalities for the first time to the actual fighting that covers the rest of the episode. It was actually nice to have some continuity and show that not just Vegeta but also the Unvierse 6 teams have learned from their previous encounters about one another. Effectively countering each other with their different techniques and skills, even if such techniques and skills are of the questionable and absurd nature. The biggest moment though, was finally seeing 18 and Krillian work together. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them fight as a team before in the entirely of Dragon Ball against actual opponents that are not Goku. But it’s that Frost reveal at the end and him eliminating Krillian that was the real highlight of the episode, I can’t wait to see what 18 does to Frost after that underhanded way he eliminated Krillian. But the most curious moment is whatever happened to Hit and Goku, are they still fighting somewhere on the battle field as this was all happening. Same goes for Gohan’s group, 17 and even Frieza. Surely they’re not just standing around as Krillian got eliminated, right? Oh well, here’s to episode 100 answering all of that. And holy crap, we finally reached episode 100 y’all!
