Spoilers will be talked about below, so please be sure to watch the latest episode before reading on! This review is based off of the dub version of Super that currently airs on Toonami.

And what do you know? I was actually wrong about how Episode 95 would have played out back in my Episode 94 review! We spent a majority of the time focus solely on Frieza as he took on the Universe 8 assassins as Goku constantly urge Frieza to not kill nor to take too long dealing with them. But was Goku able to get through with the Evil Emperor or did Frieza have his own thing going on? Lets start our review and find out!

So yeah, we pick up exactly where we left off with Frieza in his Golden Form. Goku urged Frieza to not waste time, kill anyone and to not power up into that form of his for something like this. Cause the reasoning being is that Frieza doesn’t have any control whatsoever on maintaining it, like the first time he used it against Goku and Vegeta way back at the start of Dragon Ball Super. But Frieza reveals that while imprisoned in hell, he trained his mind to not only balance his ki but to also amplified his strength tenfold to the point where he can achieve perfect control over his Golden Form.  He demonstrates this by taking out a few of the assassins in quick order, so much so that Goku has to intervene and tell Frieza to not kill anyone. Frieza doesn’t listen and instantly drops about half of the hundreds assassins. While this is going on, a few of them start attacking Babba and her ghostly assistant who Goku ends up protecting, he then tells for Master Roshi’s sister to go hide inside her hut.

While this is going on, the lead assassin that Frieza shot down back in the last episode is back. Turns out he didn’t die and we get a brief flashback of him with Universe 8’s God of Destruction and Supreme Kai. Turns out that before the assassin left, the God of Destruction bestowed upon him a small fragment of a Destroyers power in a form of a ki ball. This ki ball can totally wipe out any being no matter if they are alive, dead or in-between. We then cut back into the present time and the lead assassin launches it at Frieza, who blocks it off. Then the assassin launches another Frieza fires it off behind the assassin, toying with him. The lead assassin then launches one more from the bottom of the water, and this catches Frieza by surprise. He ends up fighting it but then becomes overpowered and begins screaming in pain from being trapped in the ki ball.

That is until Frieza reveals that it was all for show and begins to control the ki ball for himself and forms it into a tiny orb again in one of his hands, after this he shoots down the lead assassin for good with one of his Death Beam attacks. Goku, stepping in front of Frieza, then begins to talk to the other assassins that are still left and asking them who sent them. Frieza seizes the moment and fires the ki ball at Goku, trapping him inside!

As Goku struggles to maintain himself in it, Frieza goes to the assassins and demands that they tell him who sent them. They instantly comply and give him a communication device. He calls it and both the God Of Destruction and Supreme Kai of Universe 8 pick up. Frieza has a bargain for them both and that is he would join the Universe 8 team instead of the Universe 7 team since he despises Goku and wishes to be a part of a Universe without him, also he wants to be revived if they are successful at the Tournament Of Power.

But before they can ever agree to the terms, Beerus and Whis show up to see what was taking them so long. Beerus frees Goku and then suspects Frieza is up to something — at this point, he destroys the communication device the second Beerus and Whis arrived and saying the deal is off now to Universe 8. Frieza, in an inner monologue, says that he will find a way to one up the gods and be more powerful then them.

Before they all can go back to Bulma’s house Goku has one final request to Whis and Beerus, he wants to spar with Frieza for a split second. Whis agrees to the terms and lays out the rules that whoever gets the first punch is the winner with Goku’s terms being that if he wins, Frieza HAS to listen to what he says if he wants to be revived and if Frieza wins, he wants to be free of Goku and everyone to do as he pleases. Ironically though, they both land a hit on each other at the same exact time and it ends with a draw, yet the way the dialogue that follows seems to indicate that Goku got the hit a split second before Frieza. As they both begin falling down into the water, they start mumbling to each other with swollen faces about how they hate each other and all that. Whis comments that they both have gotten stronger in such a short amount of time and that they could be equal to the gods themselves.

We then wrap up the episode with the Tournament Of Power arena being fully built and the Omni-Kings approving it. They reward the Grand Minister of his designs by giving him candy of all things. We also cut off to a new Pride Trooper of Universe 11 standing near a cliff and looking onward into the sunset. The episode then finally ends with Goku, Beerus, Whis and Frieza back at Bulma’s house and ready to fight the other universes. Question is though, how is everyone else going to react to Frieza being a part of the team now? Maybe we’ll find out in Episode 96? Hopefully they don’t gloss over it in a matter of seconds and instead at least give it half an episode to sink it.
