It’s official, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is coming to Netflix just in time for the binge-watching season. If you’ve read Archie comics and Riverdale you’ve probably read or seen the comics The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina. Fans are already hoping that it doesn’t turn out like Riverdale. Personally, I love Riverdale, but some fans describe the dialogue as cringy and are hoping nothing but the best for this series. From the trailer I noticed that it is going to be a lot like the comics, but more graphic. I’m not that type that doesn’t enjoy horror, but I’m not sure how far they will take this comic series on the screen. I also noticed that Disney Channel star Ross Lynch will be in the series which was a good move for them. He is a really talented singer and actor as well creating a large fan base from the hit TV show Austin & Ally ( I was a fan of that show). What I love about The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, is her battle with the witch world and earthly world, It is what makes the comic very interesting. I have no doubt that this series won’t be successful. The only thing that I could possibly think that would make this series not so great, is if it’s far from related to the comics. When Comics are turned into movies or Tv shows, sometimes it can make viewers very confused from where its authenticity is being portrayed. I feel like Tv shows and movies based on comics should hold the same authenticity and origins of that comic. If the series starts to differ from the comic, it should be later on or in another season. The reason why I say this is because some fans look for what they read and much like movies based on books a lot of things are being cut out that was in the book. In this series, I feel like if they cut too much out, it will create a distance in the audience.
On my first review, I will be looking for the relevancy between the comic and tv series. This will help me determine if the show is going on the right path or not, but that will be in the form of my opinion of course. Other fans are hoping for a Sabrina and Riverdale crossover which I believe would be pretty cool considering the relevance of the shows. Two great shows create an even greater crossover, but let’s hope that the writers have or will consider it, I hope that the dark humor in the comics is just as entertaining as the tv series. I’m excited yet scared for the release because once the season is over who knows how long it will take for the next season to premiere. I have a little beef with Netflix for making so many awesome shows and having to wait so long for the next season. I’m still crestfallen because season 2 of Castlevania isn’t up. We fans must not stand for such inconsistency, but I will save the rest of my complaining for the end of the season. I would like to add, if you’ve haven’t read the comics, you’re missing out. I loved reading them on my lunch break, it’s what’s having me s bubbly about the series. I have a feeling that this show is going to be good. Make sure you stay tuned to my episode reviews to view my opinion of the series. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is set to premiere October 28th on Netflix.
