Coming to theaters Summer 2019, the untitled “Men in Black” fourth film reunites popular superhero stalwarts Tessa Thompson (MCU’s Valkyrie) and Chris Hemsworth (MCU’s Thor) in a standalone film from the original trilogy.
The MIB franchise-led by Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones-began in 1997 and had its sequels in 2002 and 2012. The fourth film doesn’t have any of the original players attached to it. It does bring back Emma Thompson’s Agent O (the head of the super secret alien registry organization) from MIB 3. Also joining in is Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson (Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, Mission Impossible: Fallout) in an unnamed role.
Directing the potential summertime blockbuster is auteur F. Gary Gray (The Fate of the Furious, Straight Outta Compton) while the writers are Lowell Cunningham, Matt Holloway and Art Marcum-the latter two having the distinction of launching the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Iron Man in 2008.
While no plot bunnies have been dropped, the acting and writing talent is so bananas (coupled with Thompson and Hemsworth’s fab onscreen chemistry) we’re pretty much guaranteed to have a fun time.
