From Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons and Futurama, comes a new Netflix series, Disenchantment.
The series focuses on Bean, a young woman who ditches her prince fiancé at the altar to go on an epic adventure. The official synopsis of the show is: “be whisked away to the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland, where they will follow the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci. Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools”. Anyone else getting strong Dungeons and Dragons vibes? I definitely want to name my next elven character “Elfo”.
Like many of Matt Groening’s star female leads, speaking specifically about Lisa Simpson and Leela, Bean seems to be a strong, determined woman, who just wants to find her place in the world. Bean will be voiced by Abbi Jacobson, who you may know from the hit comedy series Broad City.
I cannot wait to watch this show when it airs on Netflix on August 17th.
