Hello Gothamites!
We start this episode with Bruce who goes to St. Ignatius, the school for which Jerome got the address last episode. He meets with the headmaster who is, as Bruce notices quickly, is under The Mad Hatters hypnosis. He wears a bomb vest and wants to blow himself up. Gordon and Bullock arrive, but unfortunately, they also can’t stop the headmaster and he blows himself up.

In Penguins mansion, Jerome is holding a mandatory brunch meeting with the Legion of Horribles, consisting out of himself, Penguin, Scarecrow, Mr Freeze, Firefly and The Mad Hatter. Jerome wants them to help him execute his plan, yet he doesn’t tell it. He only mentions that it has something to do with painting the town crazy. He goes away to go and look for someone called Xander Wild. Jerome knows the place where Xander works as an engineer, so he walks in and starts questioning and shooting people who are at a meeting. When Jerome has what he needs, more information about the whereabouts of Xander, he expects to walk out without problems. But, Gordon and Bullock have also found out that Jerome is looking for Xander and are now in the same building as Jerome. A shooting starts to happen and it looks like Jerome is losing, but with the help of Firefly, Jerome gets away. When Gordon and Bullock stay with the GCPD to investigate, they see an image of a building called Wayne Plaza and it’s signed with the initials X.W.

In the meanwhile, Jerome pays a visit to ‘Proxy’, the name he got out of the business people. He wants to know where Xander is, but she knocks him out and puts him in a dog cage. Gordon and Bullock go to Wayne Manor to talk to Bruce about Wayne Plaza. Alfred looks in Thomas Wayne’s notebooks and finds that Thomas had a meeting with Xander at his home about the building. With his address, Gordon and Bullock go and pay him a visit.

At that particular address, Jerome wakes up in a concrete bunker. There are no windows, and the door blends in with the rest of the wall. The only thing he sees that is not made out of concrete is a camera mounted on the wall. We then see that he is being watched by someone, but we only see his back. The tv screens in front of the mystery person switch and we see Gordon’s car drive up the driveway. When Gordon and Bullock get out, they see nothing but a creepy forest, some big rocks and a small building, but there is not a house to be seen. Turns out that the small building is an elevator that brings them to an entire house that is built underground. They are being welcomed by Ecco, the same girl who was able to capture Jerome. She brings them to a room where they (finally) meet Xander Wild. Turns out that Jerome has a twin brother called Jeremiah!

In the beginning, Gordon and Bullock are startled, because they look very much alike, except that Jeremiah’s face was never cut off. Jeremiah tells the story of how it was like to grow up with Jerome as his brother. Jeremiah knew from a young age that Jerome was insane, his suspicions got confirmed when Jerome held a cake knife to his throat on their 10th birthday. A few weeks later his bed was set on fire. That made their mother and uncle realise that it may not take long before Jerome would seriously hurt Jeremiah. So one night, their uncle sneaked into their bedroom and took Jeremiah away and he ended up at St. Ignatius. How much Gordon wants to believe what Jeremiah is telling, he still has some doubts and finds him fishy. For example, the security cameras outside and in the house are all on, but the monitors in his room are all switched off. Jeremiah tries to hide it, but when Gordon turns on the monitors, he sees the locked up Jerome doing some yoga.

In the meantime, part of the Legion of Horribles has followed Jerome and are in the process of rescuing him. The Mad Hatter has hypnotised Ecco to help them. While she leads The Mad Hatter and Scarecrow towards Jerome’s cell, Jeremiah, Gordon and Bullock try to escape. Because Jeremiah was obsessed with mazes when he was young, he has built the house like one. Getting in is easy, but he and Ecco are the only ones who know the way out. When they are about halfway through the maze, Ecco finds them and still being under hypnosis she beats both Gordon and Bullock and takes Jeremiah with her. It doesn’t take long before Gordon and Bullock find Ecco and Jeremiah again. Bullock tries to fight her, but she is winning and that is when Gordon knocks her out with his gun. Jeremiah has already fleed and is nearly at the exit. But, Jerome isn’t stupid and is waiting for him at the end.

In the (heated) conversation that follows, we discover that Jeremiah isn’t as innocent as we thought. Because according to Jerome, the stories Jeremiah told were all made up. Jeremiah finds that Jerome was born bad and his stories caused that everyone that Jerome every loved turned against him. Something that Jerome isn’t pleased with. While the twins are catching up, Scarecrow and The Mad Hatter are after Gordon and Bullock. When they come eye to eye, Tetch wants to hypnotise them. But Bullock doesn’t want to be hypnotised again, so he starts to run after them while screaming. This works and not only Scarecrow and The Mad Hatter must flee, but also Jerome. He does promise that he’ll see his brother again soon. Gordon wants to protect Jeremiah so he puts him in protective custody.

In another part of Gotham spends Butch most of his time in a bar. He still doesn’t like the way he looks and that he has lost Tabitha. Penguin thinks he has a way to brighten Butch his mood by trying to recruit him for the Legion of Horribles. The first time Butch refuses. But the second time Penguin tries to rescue him, he brings a barrel from Indian Hill out of the Slaughter Swamp. If Butch joins the Legion of Horribles, Penguin will help him to find Hugo Strange and to get him back to normal again. Butch accepts the offer this time and they go to Penguins Mansion. When they arrive the rest has found an unwilling businessman as a test subject for some gas that Scarecrow created. After the gas is sprayed on the man, he starts to laugh hysterically. So much and long that eventually his mouth nearly stretches open and his eyes begin to bleed.

In The Narrows, The Riddler has opened his own kind of club: The Riddle Factory. Here he hosts a game show where he challenges contestants with riddles. First, the contestant is asked a riddle, if he or she answers right, a riddle can be asked to Nygma. If The Riddler can’t answer the riddle correctly, the contestant wins a large sum of money. But if he or she loses, the wheel of misfortune is spun for the punishment. Then the queen of The Narrows, Lee, walks in. She is up for the challenge and she makes the game a little more interesting. If she wins, Nygma has to shut The Riddle Factory down. Lee answers the riddle that Nygma gives her correctly and then comes up with a riddle of her own:

These three words are said too much. Meant by few and wanted by all.

The answer is I love you, but Nygma finds it impossible to say it to her so he loses at his own game. Afterwards, when the people are gone home, Lee and Nygma share a kiss together.

May I just say what an epic episode this was! Every time when I think that Gotham can’t get any crazier they pull some kind of stunt to take it to the next level. Although I’m still a little sceptical about Jeremiah and what his role is going to be in the remaining of this season. We see clearly in this episode that he isn’t afraid to bend the truth a bit, so who knows what this boy has in store for us! It might turn into the Jerome and Jeremiah show instead of just the Jerome show or even the Jeremiah show….

So what did you think of this episode?
