Aphrodite is one of twelve original Olympian Gods and Goddesses. She is a descendant of the Titans that first ruled. She was born fully grown from the ocean foam when Uranus’s genitals were thrown into said ocean. Aphrodite is the Goddess of love, beauty, pleasure (especially sexual pleasure) and procreation. She is a vain Goddess but can be kindhearted. She is married to Hephaestus the God of the forge, but cheated on him often. He is considered ugly and deformed. Aphrodite and Hephaestus were married to prevent a war on Olympus because of Aphrodite’s beauty and promiscuity as well as to appease Hephaestus when Zeus demanded Hera’s release from a magickal trap he built.
Aphrodite had affairs with a number of Gods such as Ares, Poseidon, Hermes, Dionysus, Adonis, and Anchises. She had affairs with mortals too. These dalliances produced children too, as she mothered twenty children. With Ares she has Harmonia, Eros (Cupid), Deimos, Pothos, Phobos, Anteros and Himeros. With Hermes she had Hermaphroditus. With Dionysus she had Peitho, The Graces (Aglaea, Euphrosyne and Thalia) and Priapus. With Poseidon she had Eryx and Rhodos. With Anchises she had Aeneas. With Adonis she had Beroe. With the mortal Ankhises she had Lyros. With another mortal, Phaethon, she had Astynoos.
Aphrodite’s Roman equivalent is Venus. She has a chariot that glides through the air pulled by swans. She loves thing to be beautiful and considers herself to be the most beautiful Goddess of all. She was even chosen by Prince Paris of Troy to be the most beautiful Goddess over Hera and Athena and awarded the golden apple. It is believed that because Prince Paris chose Aphrodite over the other Goddesses that she fought on the side of Paris during the Trojan War. Aphrodite went so far as to rescuing Prince Paris from King Menelaus by giving him clouds to cover his escape.

Aphrodite continues to be the Goddess of love and she and her son Cupid help people fall in lust and love. She may even still take mortal lovers and bear children.
