Throughout the books (and movies) she was never mentioned in a positive light. Harry has described her as a hard-faced Slytherin girl and as having a face ‘like a pug’. Although she never did anything to disprove these hard words towards her. Pansy Parkinson is a full-blood witch, with her family being one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, being in the same year as Harry, Ron and Hermione except she was sorted into Slytherin. We might know her best from being Draco Malfoys girlfriend in their later years at Hogwarts and for pretty much-insulting anyone outside of the Slytherin house. She was the ringleader of a ‘gang’ of Slytherin girls but also was a part of Draco’s gang together with Crabbe and Goyle.
In her later years of Hogwarts, she became a Prefect, together with Draco. In their fifth year she also became a member of Umbridge’s Inquisitorial Squad, however, it is never known if she joined out of free will or because Draco made her join. But her true colours really showed through during the night of the Battle of Hogwarts, where she not only didn’t stay behind to fight, but she also tried to turn Harry over to Voldemort. This caused the majority of her schoolmates to draw their wands upon her in Harry’s defence.
We don’t know much about her life after Hogwarts. For example, if she ever finished school and what kind of job she started. All we do know is that sometime after the war she and Draco split up because he eventually married someone else.
In the movies, Pansy has been portrayed by four different actresses:
- In Philosopher’s stone and Chamber of Secrets, she was played by Katherine Nicholson as a background extra.
- In Prisoner of Azkaban, she was portrayed by Genevieve Gaunt.
- In Order of the Phoenix, she was played by Lauren Shotton, however, the role was uncredited and was a non-speaking cameo.
- In Half-Blood Prince, Deathly Hallows: Part 1, and Deathly Hallows: Part 2, she was portrayed by Scarlett Byrne.
