Who doesn’t love dinosaurs? Not very many people, since we’re getting a sequel to 2015’s Jurassic World!  Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom just dropped its first trailer, and we’re stoked to see what happened to Isla Nublar after the fall of the park. Universal has given us a handful of teaser videos, including a small interaction with Blue and Owen Grady, but now the full trailer has been released!

When we meet our heroes again they seem to be at odds. Owen Grady ( Pratt) is reluctant to return to Isle Nublar with Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), who has had a serious change of heart over the last four years and now leads the Dinosaur Protection Group. Claire tugs at Owen’s—and our— hearts by reminding him that Blue the Velociraptor is still alive on an island that is about to explode due to volcanic activity. The race is on to rescue as many dinosaurs as possible from the doomed island.

The trailer highlights a plethora of new dinosaurs and a return of the old favorites like Tyrannosaurus rex. Reportedly, the film will also be addressing some fan complaints of the dinosaurs looking CG’d in by using ‘real’ animatronics, which we get a first glimpse of in the teaser released starring a seemingly sedate ‘rex.

Speaking of dinosaurs, the film promises even more then we had seen before! Along with the T-rex, Compsognathus, Apatosaurus and Pteranodon, we will be treated to Gallimimus, Baryonyx, Stygimoloch, and Dilophosaurus (which seems like a call back to the original Jurassic Park which featured the same dinosaur putting a fitting end to corporate spy Dennis Nedry) to name a few!

The highlight of the trailer has to be the moment Owen is confronted with a now grown and seemingly alone Blue. There is a tense moment where the two stand trying to bridge their once incredible connection, though the moment seems destined to fail when the dinosaur suddenly shrieks.

From here we are treated to explosions, an almost trade mark chased-by-dinosaurs scene complete with T-rex saving the party in an epic moment, and giving the now-iconic roar as nostalgic as that of the MGM’s lion. The gyrospheres also make a comeback, with Howard and co-star Justice Smith sent tumbling over a cliff’s edge to plummet into the ocean, surrounded by fleeing dinos.

Alongside Pratt and Howard, Jeff Goldblum will also be returning as Dr. Ian Malcolm. He appears in the trailer addressing a government committee and tossing in a good old “Life finds a way” that even Chaos Theory can’t explain. New faces to the franchise also include Director J.A. Bayona and Belén Atienza as producer.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is set to stomp into theaters June 22, 2018.
