This piece is written about a movie that never received that fast all the money they needed to produce the film. Well, they did offer their funders tickets to go see the movie, a producer title, a speaking actor role and even the patrol car used in filming. The initial goal was $2 million, but within 26 hours and the help of over 54,000 fans, they more than doubled their initial goal, raising a total of $4,605,468. I’m, of course, talking about the highly anticipated sequel to Super Troopers, called Super Troopers 2! We’ve only had to wait 16 years.

The original movie was written by and stars the Broken Lizard comedy team, consisting out of Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske. They have written the sequel too and will return to play Mac, Thorny, Foster, Rabbit and Farva. Filming started in Oktober 2015 and was completed in August 2017.

Here’s the official synopsis:

“Everyone’s favourite law enforcement team is back by popular demand with the long anticipated follow up to the cult comedy classic…Super Troopers. When an international border dispute arises between the U.S. and Canada, the Super Troopers–Mac, Thorny, Foster, Rabbit, and Farva–are called in to set up a new Highway Patrol station in the disputed area. Unconventional police work follows, and the result is…Super Troopers 2.”

Apparently, the government of the US has found places where the markers were off or wrong. And there are these areas of land that were thought to be Canada but are actually part of the U.S. The Super Troopers are enlisted to patrol this particular area and bring peace again. They essentially have to impose U.S. law on a bunch of Canadians that aren’t at all happy about it.
