Television The Big Bang Theory

Why Is The Big Bang Theory WORTH Watching?

This is an article on how much our favorite cast from The Big Bang Theory earns!

While we wait on the 9th episode of this current season of TBBT – “The Bitcoin Entanglement”, which is going to air on Nov 30, I would like to take you all on a journey of our favorite stars’ earnings.

No, this article isn’t going to tell you why you need to watch the show – that reason is obvious!

As some of you might know, TBBT actors are among the highest paid TV actors in the world. In fact, leaving only the top position holder Sofia Vergara (with a whooping $41.5 m/year), the next 5 places are held by our TBBT main cast – Sheldon, Leonard, Penny, Howard and Raj. (a total of $131m/year combined!)

It is really astonishing to know that one single episode of TBBT costs about 9 million USD to the producers!

Here are the details of their salaries per season:

  • Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper) – $27,500,000

  • Johnny Galecki (Leonard Hofstadter) – $26,500,000

  • Simon Helberg (Howard Wolowitz) – $26,000,000 AND
  • Kunal Nayyar – (Rajesh/Raj Koothrappali) – $25,000,000

Aren’t these numbers fascinating?

I think I should move to acting.

  1. Wow, that’s some serious cash. Of course, an actor only has a one in a million chance of getting on a show that successful. Well, the odds are probably better than that, but I don’t want to run the numbers.

    1. Haha true! They must have worked very hard for 10 seasons. They’ve got amazing transformations in their personalities in all these years. Look at Penny in S01E01 and look at Penny now. 😁

      1. I saw the original pilot for Big Bang Theory that wasn’t used. They had a different actress for Penny and the character was both smarter and more manipulative, but the audience test didn’t go well and they gave us this Penny instead.

  2. There are thousands of actors and just a few get paid those whopping amounts. So, if you are looking to make money… Your odds will be far more pronounced, of say you decide on…. I don’t know, dealing drugs!? πŸ˜€..
    Nice article, love the show

    1. Haha, I am sure, they might have thought about dealing drugs at some point of time in their lives. But then found themselves way too introvert (or innocent) for the task. πŸ˜‚ Thank you, by the way! Keep watching and keep reading. 😁

  3. I am so tired of this show!!! Time they did an episode where Sheldon is bound and gagged left hanging in the damaged elevator shaft-Last episode hopefully!
And when Howard whines that no one has cut the crusts off his bread-leave him out in the brush, with only his wits to survive!
Also, they complain about money-often yet leave the room with all the lights on!
And if Sheldon has a job where he has funds to just leave in a drawer-let him get a cab, instead of mooching a ride every where-like a real person.
The fact that a group of people are still willing to pay them obscene amounts of money Does Not mean the show is still Funny! If i’m wrong lets see an episode, like the M.A.S.H. WITHOUT a laugh track-maybe even shot in front of a live audience like All in the Family.
Then I’m not one of the Entititled & may not get this show anymore.
    RIP Big Bang Theory, Soon!

    1. Haha, you have a point, @Ray. I mean yeah, there are some things that makes me think that writers could do better on things on the show, but I don’t know something has kept me attached to it so much for past some years now. About the lights, we must consider that they must have the hydro included in the rent! πŸ˜€ Your point about Sheldon’s ride seems logical, but hey, who can tell? Sheldon might have a phobia of getting into cabs and the drivers’ driving habits! Well, if it makes you feel any better, there are reports that they might stop after season 12! You just have to bear a little more, friend! Enjoy the other classics on Netflix.
