Although it has already been six months after I wrote my first article about the Tomb Raider reboot, not much new information has been released. Pictures have been shared here and there, but other than that we are still pretty much in the dark.
What we do know is that filming started on January 23, 2017, in Cape Town, South Africa and ended on June 9, 2017, at the Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden. In that time, it was announced that two more actors had joined the cast: Hannah John-Kamen as Sophie, Croft’s flatmate and best friend and Antonio Aakeel as Nitin, a friend to Lara.
Due to the photos from the set of the production, it looks like Alicia Vikander does quite a lot of stunts on her own while filming. This is what she said about shooting the action scenes to Entertainment Weekly:
“Just like in The Wave, we have a lot of water sequences. I spent my last two days of shooting in a tank and that was my 16th total day being fully drenched or submerged in the water … For one action scene, we used the London venue for Olympic rafting. They threw me down that river — with my hands tied — about 50 times. I didn’t need to act, just react!”
The only thing we can do now is waiting for the first trailer or teaser to drop on the internet! The Tomb Raider reboot is expected to hit cinemas on March 16, 2018.
