The Game of Nerds has always been a place for people to escape the world and enjoy their favorite fandom and just unwind with fellow nerds.
During the 2016 presidential election we made it a point to be a safe space for everyone to gather and enjoy their entertainment.
Which brings us to American Horror Story’s seventh season: Cult. Ryan Murphy has teased they would use real footage from election night, but it’s always been unclear how much it would influence the season. We promise to include as little of it and related political commentary out of our recaps and reviews. As always, we would prefer to focus on the writing, acting, and overall story.
With that in mind, here is a look at the official trailer, where we see AHS veterans Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters establish what seems to be the seasons dynamic.
WARNING: Jump Scares and Clows
After having opposite reactions to election night news (which seems irrelevant to the rest of the trailer), Peters, presumed cult leader, sets out to terrorize Paulson for unknown reasons, while focusing in on her fear of clowns.
In the trailer Peters enlists the help of Billie Lourd, who infiltrates the home of Paulson and her partner Alison Pill by taking the job of nanny to their son.

While alone with the boy we see Lourd give him a Twisty the Clown doll and to not tell his moms [he also had a Twisty the Clown comic, presumably another item from Lourd meant to twist the boy].
Could the doll be cursed? Is Lourd brainwashing the boy into their hive mind collective, or is he already at a predisposition? And why thus family? Any other tie ins to past seasons besides Twisty? Will the season be filled with jump scares and every facet of creepy clowns?
Find out with us when the premiere arrives Tuesday, September 5th at 10pm est.
