Another Tuesday is here, which brings us more move releases.
This week is a pretty big week, we’ve got two picks for Blu-rays: Saban’s Power Rangers and The Belko Experiment. In addition, we are getting some sweet special editions of Power Rangers from Target and Best Buy. In a rare series of events, Best Buy is not offering a steelbook but Target is. [I’m going with the Target edition.]
Saban’s Power Rangers
Five ordinary teens must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers. – Lionsgate
Power Rangers was a film I caught in theaters. I liked this movie, and although it could’ve been better, it hit me where it matters: in my heart. As a child of the 90’s, I grew up on Power Rangers. This movie seethed nostalgia. I genuinely liked the world that was built and would like to see some more stuff in the it. This is a must-own for Power Rangers fans.
All editions of the Blu-ray above come with the same stuff but the exclusives get some extra goodies. All Blu-rays include:
- Blu-ray Disc
- DVD
- Digital HD
- Special Features
- Audio Commentary with Dean Israelite and John Gatins
- Deleted, Alternate and Extended Scenes
- Outtakes
- Theatrical Trailer
- The Power of the Present” Documentary: Rangers Then to Now
- Building the Team
- Beyond the Rangers
- Suiting Up
- Rangers, Welcome to Training
- Rangers in the Wild
- It’s Morphin Time
- Power Ballad: Music and Sound
- This is Your Destiny
The Best Buy exclusive comes with collectible art cards, and the Target exclusive comes with a graphic novel. The Best Buy packaging does look very cool but the Target one is subjectively better in my eyes. I am a steelbook guy… plus a free graphic novel is a great addition.
You can buy the Target exclusive here.
You can buy the Best Buy exclusive here.
And you can buy the regular Blu-ray here.
The Belko Experiment
An ordinary day at the office becomes a horrific quest for survival when 80 employees (John Gallagher Jr., Tony Goldwyn, Adria Arjona) at the Belko Corp. in Bogotá, Colombia, learn that they are pawns in a deadly game. Trapped inside their building, a voice over an intercom tells the frightened staffers that two workers must be killed within 30 minutes. When another ultimatum follows, friends become enemies and new alliances take shape, as only the strongest will remain alive at the end. – Orion Pictures
I also watched this movie in theaters, and I quite liked it. This is not a film for everyone. Seriously, this movie is super gory and violent but it is also hilarious. This is not for the faint of heart at all. If you like genre-blending, this is a film for you. James Gunn has certainly done it again.
This is a pretty barebones Blu-ray, it comes with:
- Blu-ray Disc
- Digital HD
- Special Features
- Rules of the Game: The Secrets Behind The Belko Experiment
- Lee Hardcastle’s Survival Tips
- Deleted Scenes
- Gallery
You can buy The Belko Experiment here.
