There are very few franchises that hit my childhood nostalgia button. Ghostbusters happens to be one of the top ones. I remember watching the original with my dad about a million times. The sequel was always considered slightly below the original but very entertaining. I loved watching the Ghostbusters cartoons as well. When they did the reboot in 2016, I was supportive but it didn’t get me like the original. Then they announced that there was going to be another reboot for 2020. I rolled my eyes and groaned like every other Ghostbuster fan out there. It wasn’t until rumors started swirling that original cast members would be appearing and Paul Rudd was involved that my interested was peaked. With very little information, photos, or even previews available, fans were stuck watching and waiting for the director, Jason Reitman, to drop the trailer. If you don’t know who Jason Reitman is, he is the son of the original Ghostbusters director, Ivan Reitman. He also co-wrote the new script with Gil Kenan. Ivan Reitman won’t be left out either since he will be producing the movie.
The film stars Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, and Paul Rudd. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts will reprise their roles from the original films. Taking place 30 years after Ghostbusters II, the basis of the plot is a single mom and her kids move out to Oklahoma to an old farm their grandfather owned. Strange things start happening, and the family starts finding out how they are related to the Ghostbusters of New York. I can’t say enough how absolutely excited I am for this movie.
