Summer is in full force and you know what that means! Time to crack open the books, especially in prep for new fall movies. Here are 5 books you should read this summer before they hit the big screen!

1. The Dark Tower — Stephen King

Idris Elba & Matthew McConaughey will star in the adaptation of this King novel, in which “Gunslinger” Roland Deschain fights to save multiple dimensions from the forces of evil. Read it now and then catch the movie on August 4!

2.  It — Stephen King

You’ve probably heard of this famous Stephen King story, and likely have already read it, especially if you’re a horror fan. But if you haven’t gotten around to it, now’s your chance to enter the terrifying world of Pennywise the Clown because the movie comes out September 8!

3. The Mountains Between Us — Charles Martin

At once heartbreaking and heartwarming, this survival story about two strangers who crash in rugged wilderness and must rely on each other to survive is a MUST READ before Idris Elba & Kate Winslet take the stage in the adaptation on October 20.

4. Murder on the Orient Express — Agatha Christie

A personal favorite of mine, Agatha Christie reigns as the Queen of Mystery, and this classic murder mystery is a prime example of why she’s earned the crown. Thrilling and fun, Murder on the Orient Express is a breath of fresh air, even though it’s been around since 1934! The 2017 film adaptation is going to be a huge, star-studded event, as the film features big names like Johnny Depp, Daisy Ridley, Michelle Pfeiffer, Josh Gad, Leslie Odom Jr., and more! The movie premieres November 22.

5. Wonder — R. J. Palacio

If you aren’t one for horror stories or murder mysteries, don’t worry, 2017 still has something to offer! Wonder by R. J. Palacio is the story of Auggie Pullman, a boy with a facial deformity that makes fitting in at a new school extra challenging. The movie adaptation of this tale will star the adorable and excellent Jacob Tremblay as Auggie, and Julia Roberts as his mother. The movie opens November 17.

Happy reading! xx
