Starting this Friday, Steve Wozniack and his team of geeks are taking over San Jose to bring fans the best of technology and the geek world. With Silicon Valley being the home to some of the greatest tech inventions and companies, it’s no wonder why Steve wanted to make San Jose Silicon Valley Comic Con’s home! This year instead of just taking over The San Jose Convention Center. SVCC will take over the Civic Center and Plaza de Cesar Chavez as well for an even bigger celebration. This is SVCC’s second year as a convention and fans are already obsessed. Last year’s big ticket celebrity was the amazing Stan Lee. As one of those fans who waited 2 hours to meet the GOD of Marvel himself, I can tell you personally it was well worth it. 😉
This year, Grant Gustin is making his first convention appearance ever, besides Sand Diego Comic Con of course. Joining him on this year’s Flash Panel is Tom Felton aka Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter. This year SVCC is celebrating 30 Years of Star Trek with amazing celebrities as William Shatner, Nichelle Nicolas, Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, Marina Sirtis, and many others. For the first time in over a decade, the original Batman and Robin from the 60’s (Adam West and Burt Ward) will be in the building Saturday only! Childhood favorites from Sesame Street and Mister Rogers Neighborhood will be making an appearance as well. If you are Walking Dead Fan, Steve Yeun will be around all weekend for photos and autographs. Carrie Fisher was originally supposed to headline this convention, but instead her support dog Gary will be there to get lots of rubs and loves. All proceeds from photo ops will go towards his care. With so much to do and see, no wonder you need 3 days to see it all. You can purchase your tickets here along with your photo ops and autographs if you want to get them out-of-the-way.
Not only can you meet all your favorite celebrities but there will be other events taking place too. Plaza de Cesar Chavez is being turned into an Outdoor SVCC Festival for music, food, science demos, and movie screenings. Even though the event closes at 9pm the park will be open till 10pm all three days. There will be an auction Sunday for rare movie memorabilia for all to attend! This would be your chance to own a little piece of Hollywood magic from some of your favorite films. Plus don’t forget the car show with all the vehicles from our favorite movies and shows! Are you planning on Cosplaying this weekend? Don’t worry Adam Savage has his own lounge and workshop where you can fix or learn how make something new for your costume. Plus there will be plenty of costume contests for humans and dogs alike to participate in.
The Game of Nerds will be there all weekend! So come find us! Take a picture with us and you could possible be featured in our SVCC coverage! Make sure you are following us on Twitter and Facebook so you don’t miss out on anything! We can’t wait to see you there!
