The Legends have been tasked with some pretty interesting time aberrations and quakes but in “Turncoat,” they might’ve had their most devastating and important mission yet. Discovering the Legion of Doom plans to assassinate General Washington in December 1776, the Legends plot a course to save him. What they soon find out is the LoD isn’t leading the assault on the Continental army, Rip is.

The latest incarnation of Rip isn’t their original captain or the clueless film student, Phil. This Rip Hunter is malevolent. He knows and remembers his crew but shows no soul in attacking them. After he infiltrates the redcoats and hands General Washington and Mick over to him, he sets his sights on the Waverider-more importantly, the shard of the Spear of Destiny on the Waverider.
With zero regard for his former mates (and Gideon knocked offline), Rip shoots Sara, knocks out Stein and confronts Jax. When he demands the shard and Jax finally gives it up, Rip snaps Sara’s neck…and permanently drives a wedge between his old self and Jaxson.

As the British are about to execute General Washington and send Mick back to the Continental army with their compliments, Amaya and Nate charge in for the rescue. I’ve got to say, these two have been such a pleasant addition to the Legends. Of course now that they hooked up, I ship them immediately. Namaya is an awesome ship name and I need them to get together, ASAP.
I digress.
Rescuing Washington and Mick, the team has one more thing to do: save Jax from making a terrible mistake. Charging after hijacked Rip in a fury, Jax aims to shoot and kill…until Sara stops him. Gideon came back online and Pofessor Stein assisted with bringing Sara back to life. Pleading with Jax, Sara makes the case for not killing Rip and the malevolent one slinks off.

The team is down but now out when they celebrate a Christmas feast together. Sara reminds them that the season is about being the best you, you can possibly be. They determine to find the LoD, retake the Spear of Destiny and rescue Rip. Can they do it, is the question.
