Michael Schur created a show that stars Kristen Bell & you’re not watching it yet; honestly that makes no sense!

If you’ve watched any TV this summer or even been on the internet, you’ve seen the trailer for The Good Place. Kristen Bell plays Eleanor, who was kind of a bad person on Earth but ended up in a heavenly paradise referred to as “The Good Place” due to a clerical error.

Now if I did a full recap, you would 6000% run to your TV/computer to watch this show, but you would also hate me for robbing you of the joy that comes with seeing it all unfold for yourself. Personally I can’t deal with people hating me, I want us to all get along, in fact I want you to love me. Which is why I’ll just tell you this: obviously Eleanor is not gonna give herself up for a lifetime of damnation, so she’s trying to convince her soulmate (technically soulmate of whoever’s place Eleanor is in) to not rat her out and also to teach her to be a good person.

So far that seems like a decent premise, but maybe you’re not sold on it, or you’re not quite sure how it would play out in a hopefully long running TV show. Well I’m here to tell you that the show is FULL of unexpected twists – some are actually jaw dropping – and turns. The ensemble is very much a huge part of the show & they play each “perfect” character, for lack of a better word, perfectly!

The Good Place extends the same courtesy to their cast that The Office & Parks & Recreation did; no one exists solely to prop up the lead or be the voice of reason, it’s apparent early on that everyone has a more complicated story than you might think & that they’ll get a chance to explore it. D’Arcy Carden shines as Janet, the human encyclopedia/the Good Place’s information desk. William Jackson Harper brings his Ethics professor to life in a charismatic way, and he’s not terrible to look at. Jameela Jamil & Manny Jacinto are so special I can’t even describe their magic!

To promote the show, NBC aired THREE episodes last week, two on a special Monday night presentation and one more on the shows regular night, Thursdays at 8:30pm. The show sets itself up & comes into its own in a way that after the second episode you’re dying to see the third, and by the end of the third, you’ll be DYING to see what happens next, and trust me, what happens next does not disappoint.
