The Greatest Date In The World

Last week, Mindy dated and broke up with Ne-Yo in the same episode so I’m guessing we can expect a love song about her soon. Also, the nurses wanted to complain and Jeremy wanted everyone to get along – and Jody was there looking hot and almost making you forget that he’s a garbage person

Date episodes are always fun because there are tons of gorgeous outfits, new sets, hot people and cool date activities; The Greatest Date In The World does not disappoint.

It turns out that Marcus knows the best place in New York to do everything, so we spend the cold open tagging along to various dates, like getting the best Chinese food, best vodka, best interactive theatre where you get an egg cracked on your head, and the best sex (aka himself, this was smooth as hell).

On a normal day at the office, another one of Jeremy’s meetings (re: betting on babies birth weights) gets interrupted by Mindy who, inspired by Marcus’ coolness, wants to try cooler lunch spots. We then learn that she was banned from Panera bread for eating a long baguette in a lewd manner monkey hiding face emoji. We also learn that it’s Jody’s birthday but no one cares. Next, Morgan, Tamra & Collette are tired of sharing the tiny phlebotomy space and want to turn Danny’s (who?!) office into a lounge. After some condescension from Jody and objections from Mindy, Jeremy agrees to convert Dr. C’s (again, who?) office.

In the next scene, Mindy is with one of her favourite patients who is dating some deadbeat bro and can’t wait for him forever so she wants to have a baby using a sperm donor. Mindy is super excited to get her pregnant and for her to meet Louis, her sperm guy.

Morgan is giving Jeremy a tour of the new nurses lounge, Tamra has a spa area, Collette set up an activity corner and Morgan has a corner where he does “poetry”. Jeremy doesn’t like the poster they have up that says: “they pay me to work here, they don’t pay me to like it,” gets offended and storms out.

Mindy, Louis and her patient are looking through samples. Let’s take a moment here and pretend that the actor who plays Louis chose to play him in a super stereotypical way and that Mindy is better than this. Okay, back to plot; Louis wants Jody to give him a sample and they flirt a little and Jody blows a kiss and he’s still scruffy and wearing these amazing suits and colours and I’m like ooh you’re kinda hot I don’t hate you anymore maybe thinking emoji. The patient whose name I should really have listened to earlier chooses stud 14 but then starts to wonder if she should pick someone who would be involved in the child’s life. Mindy tells her that it’s super hard, that it’s what her and Danny are doing but that it wasn’t the plan sniff. In fact, that morning they had a fight over the theme of Leo’s birthday party – baseball vs leather & lace, I’ll let y’all decide who should win.

Mindy & Marcus have just finished another date – best Transylvanian cuisine – when she says she wants to stop at Barnes&Noble to get something for Jody. Of course, Marcus hates big box bookstores and takes her to some rando with a table in the street who doesn’t have what she’s looking for. So, she doesn’t get the book AND a birds wing hits her face.

The next day, Mindy’s patient has decided to use her non-boyfriend deadbeat friend Jonah as the donor. Mindy is totally against this and wants to stop Eden (I LEARNED HER NAME!) from making a huge mistake. She goes to tell Jody who tells her that their job is to do what the patient wants and not jump to conclusions. Jeremy then barges in, the nurses poster still weighing heavily on his heart.

Mindy and Morgan (who is secretly a great guy, according to himself) go to collect Jonah’s sample and do some recon on his situation. She overloads him with questions about the baby and his future with Eden & freaks him out so much that he takes back his sample.

Jeremy wants to get the nurses to like working at Shulman (and to like him more) so he takes them out to an expensive dinner and agrees to their ridiculous demands of Fridays off and interns and a popcorn machine.

Mindy and Marcus have another date that night, she wants to stay in and get to know him, and he does not understand what those words mean. When she says that she doesn’t feel like she knows him, he gets defensive and lists things he likes. Mindy says she wants to know what he’s like and not just what he likes – which offends him because he has a great personality okay! He followed Buzzfeed’s 10 simple steps to having a good personality. They realize that they can’t make it work so they break up tear.

The next day is Eden’s egg retrieval day and Mindy is eggcellent jokes that do not go over easy because Eden is mad as hell that Mindy scared Jonah. She kicks her off the case and has asked Jody to take over. Mindy has a little meltdown, totally projecting her own situation and the pain she feels at the mess her & Danny caused onto Eden. She storms out, very upset.

Back at work, Jeremy is visiting the nurses lounge to see if they’re happy with their popcorn machine and other new shiny things. They’re totally unappreciative of his efforts and they refuse to take their poster down so he takes their popcorn machine and causes an uproar.

Next up, Mindy is yelling at Jody and throwing walnuts at him for stealing her patient. He says that he did it for her own good, which wasn’t totally wrong, but then he was super rude about it, telling her that she ruined her life and making me want to smack the hell out of him. Mindy wants to storm out but they hear commotion outside in the reception. Jeremy has put an “I hate nurses” sign on his office door that he’s calling “the Jeremy’s lounge.” Mindy talks him down, saying bosses have to be professional, workers are allowed to complain and bitch but they don’t have to give in to all their demands. So it all works out and the nurses go off to complain in their lounge.

Mindy is just chilling at home when Jody rudely interrupts by showing up. He apologizes for being an asshat earlier and saying she ruined her life but doesn’t apologize for taking her patient. She confesses that she feels guilt that she couldn’t make it work with Danny and didn’t want Eden to feel that same terrible feeling that she’s somehow ruining her kid. Jody says that she’s a great mom and person and doctor and does it all in heels which he & I are impressed with. She invites him to watch the rest of the movie with her and he agrees. He looks really hot right now guys I’m not gonna lie I don’t hate it. She gives him his birthday present that he loves and he ends up staying for the whole movie. When it ends, he sees that Mindy has fallen asleep, puts a blanket over her and makes heart eyes at her and caresses her hair. BUT SHE WASN’T ALSEEP! SHE WAS AWAKE! SHE FELT HIM DO THAT!!! She looks up shiftily like she’s worried and doesn’t know what to do with this new information…

What a great episode, there were some hilarious moments in it as well as some touching insight into how Mindy’s doing with the single mom thing. And we got to see Mindy date Ne-Yo, what else do we even need!
