In 2014 Marvel released the tenth movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Guardians of the Galaxy, and in 2017 the second part is planned for release. Here is what we know so far:
1. The Story
The story will be about Peter Quill a.k.a Star-Lord and his team of misfits who continue their cosmic adventures as protectors of the galaxy against all new threats. And they will attend to unravel the mystery of Quill’s father and his heritage. Although, the director James Gunn has noted that the big reveal of Quill’s father won’t be what the entire movie rests on.
In case you already have a general idea about who might be Quill’s father from reading the comics, then I slightly have to disappoint you. It has been confirmed that Star Lord’s parentage will not follow the comics, therefore leaving Quill’s father still one big mystery.
3. Nathan Fillion
Also movie characters like going to the cinema once in a while, and in the MCU, their biggest star is called Simon Williams. He’s a long-running Marvel Comics character, an actor who has energy-based powers that give him super-strength, flight, and superhuman endurance. Better known as Wonder Man in the comics. The best man to ask to portray him is, of course, Mister Castle himself aka Nathan Fillion.
Some non-official on-set photos show a Simon Williams Festival on earth with various fake movie posters starring Nathan. This raises the question of this being a flashback or some earthly visit for the Guardians since they mostly spend their time in the galaxy?
Another confirmation is that Groot, who was reborn as a little twiglet dancing to the Jackson 5 in the last film, will have a major role again, being grown back to his previous age. Also, instead of three words, he will be having an extended vocabulary.
Sadly this is all we know so far since Marvel is great at keeping details for themselves and because filming is taking place right now. The release date is May 5th, 2017, but don’t forget to check The Game Of Nerds to catch the latest news on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2!
