September 25th was the day of encores, and somehow, they were entirely unrelated. One involved a singer some of you might know who released four songs on an extended album titled Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, and the other revolved around a movie franchise that re-released one of the most epic films of all time, but this time with a few added scenes.

Honestly, there wasn’t as much hype around this re-release as I expected there to be, so if you didn’t know about it, no worries; I’ve got you. Here’s everything you need to know about Avengers: Endgame: Encore, including details on all of the included scenes and what they could mean leading up to Avengers: Doomsday.

Avengers: Endgame Encore Details

Release date: September 25, 2026

What it is: An extended theatrical presentation of the original 2019 Avengers: Endgame

Runtime: Roughly 3 hours

What’s new: Technically 3-4 new scenes—and this actually varies by theatre. Apparently some theatres (like the one I was in) only show two after-credit scenes when in actuality there are three in total. Why is this? I have no idea, but apparently some versions only have two.

How long it’s in theaters: It is said to be a limited theatrical run, but it appears to be staying for longer than just a weekend.

Streaming: So far, there are no confirmed dates for its release on Disney+ or other streaming platforms. Which means they may wait until after Doomsday is released to allow us to stream this extended version.

***Spoiler warning***

Everything that follows includes major spoilers from Avengers: Endgame: Encore…and several other Marvel-related films/television series.

The Extra Scenes

Scene #1: The Extended Ending

Originally, Endgame closed with Steve dancing with his long-lost love Peggy after he decided to remain in the past after returning the Infinity Stones. That part still happens, except this time around, someone knocks at the door. And it is none other than our favorite TVA master, Loki.

Peggy asks, “Can I help you?” Naturally, of course, because she probably wasn’t very familiar with the prior Asgard God-turned-villain-turned-time-traveling anti-hero. And Loki casually says, “No, but I can help you. Both of you.” And that’s it—the scene cuts and the credits roll.

We can infer a few things from this and tie some things together. From the trailers, we already knew young Steve was somehow going to be involved in the Doomsday fight; we just weren’t really sure how—but there you have it. It seems that Loki essentially recruits them because now that he’s involved with the TVA, he can essentially pluck anyone he wants from space and time.

The only question is—why Steve—and also why Peggy? He specifically says that he can help “both of them.” Perhaps that is because Doom seems to want to destroy everyone in our core timeline, so Loki is here to help that not happen by recruiting them?

Really, the only question here is just—why? Out of the extra scenes, I feel like this one is the most straightforward and answers a big question without presenting too many others.

Scene #2: Bruce Banner x Dr.Doom

The last we knew of our favorite green giant/mega genius, he was being locked up due to an incident in New York. If you are uncertain which incident I am referring to, well, you just need to watch Spider-Man: Brand New Day—long story short, it wasn’t Bruce’s fault. Honestly, I was worried this was Marvel’s way of wiping Bruce from the plot, but thank goodness, this new post-credit scene confirmed that this was not the case.

The scene starts with Bruce filming himself in his dungeon, which he states is miles below ground, and he is talking about making a serum to help control the Hulk—the usual yada yada he’d probably be working on. But then the footage starts to go a bit wonky, and Bruce suddenly looks alarmed. Next thing we know, Bruce is looking at something—or someone—and asks, “Who are you?”

Although we don’t see him, we hear a voice that is obviously RDJ as Dr. Doom, who replies, “Mr. Banner, I’m here to collect you.”

Naturally, Bruce starts to transform into the Hulk; the camera falls, and just as the Hulk roars, the camera shows an empty room with nothing but a strange symbol on the floor.

So what does this mean? Doom is collecting heroes…for some large, unknown agenda that we can only assume has to do with the fact that he claims they are all living stolen lives. I have a feeling he isn’t just taking Bruce to lock him up, but rather for recruitment, whether he’s recruiting Bruce Banner’s brain or the Hulk’s smashing capabilities—we shall have to wait and see.

Scene #3: The TVA Scene (if you were lucky enough to watch that version)

Source: https://www.marvel.com/tv-shows/loki

This is quite possibly the most important scene that occurred after the credits rolled, but unfortunately, it is also the one missing from certain versions.

The scene starts off with Mobius walking into the TVA for a normal workday, but soon after he arrives, the TVA begins receiving alerts. The first states that two universes are about to collide in some sort of incursion, and as they watch it on the big screen, they realize that the worlds are firing missiles at each other as a last-ditch effort to save themselves. Yes, it seems things are becoming a bit grim.

The crazy part is that one of the universes listed is Earth-10005—which is one that we are pretty familiar with. Earth-10005 is the universe where the Fox X-Men characters and Deadpool exist (oh no!). This adds up because a trailer has already showed that a few of the Fox X-Men characters will be in Doomsday, although there hasn’t been confirmation of Deadpool.

At first, I was a bit confused because in Deadpool & Wolverine…didn’t we already face this issue? His Earth was facing extinction, and then they had that whole epic moment with Like a Prayer playing in the background where they saved it. But apparently, that was because Mr. Paradox was purposely trying to speed up its destruction. Now it’s because, well, the multiverse as a whole is collapsing.

Which is exactly what O.B. says as he notices that it isn’t just these two universes that are about to destroy one another…it’s thousands of them. Even worse, it shows that some universes have already been destroyed, and some of them—we know. Hulk, What If…?, and the 2015 Fantastic Four were confirmed to have been destroyed already.

What does this mean for Doomsday? Well, if I had to guess, I’d say that Dr. Doom was a few steps ahead of this. He knew the multiverse was going to collapse, and he has been preparing to stop it. Which sounds heroic, but unfortunately, I have a feeling he is going to take a page out of Thanos’ book and destroy some worlds in order to save the multiverse.

Scene #4: Clang Clang Clang

The final scene that happened at the absolute last second, after every single credit rolled, was one that was very short but extremely meaningful. It started with the same sound that the original Avengers: Endgame ended with: the sound of metal being hammered—the exact sound that was made when Tony Stark forged the first Iron Man suit. In the original, it was almost as if it was in honor of Tony. But this time around, they decided to twist it.

After a few moments of clang, clang, clang, we start to see flashes of a mask being forged, but it isn’t Iron Man—it’s Dr. Doom. It ends with Dr. Doom wearing the finished mask.

Does this answer the question we have all been wondering about concerning the possible connection between Tony Stark and Dr. Doom? No—not really. But hey, it gives us a bit of hope for the possibility. Why else would they choose RDJ to play Doom? I mean, c’mon…the parallels are really paralleling here.

Final Thoughts

While the extra scenes did give us a bit more of a look into what we can expect from Doomsday, they certainly didn’t confirm anything. But I never would have expected Marvel to give us anything more than crumbs for a film such as this. They have been building up to this movie for two decades, so the biggest reveals will likely be saved for its release on December 18th.

Avengers: Endgame: Encore did do one thing, though—it successfully hyped us for what’s to come and reminded us why the Marvel universe (or universes at this point) is the greatest fictional universe ever created.
