Apple TV has been at San Diego Comic Con for a few years now, but 2026 marked the first year they have been at the much vaunted Hall H which has played home to big presentation from such entertainment heavy hitters as Marvel(which was  also back  in Hall H this year too after a 2 year absence).

This year in a two hour panel on Saturday July 25 from 2-4 pm PST and hosted by Happy, Sad, Confused host Josh Horowitz Apple TV previewed an extensive lineup of upcoming movies and television shows including Matchbox the Movie(starring John Cena and Jessica Alba) based on the Matchbox cars toy line which premieres on streaming October 9th,  Widow’s Bay which recently debuted season 1 on Apple TV,  and Dark Matter which launches a new season on August 28th.  They also previewed the new movie Mayday starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh, as well as a sneak preview of the upcoming series Neuromancer starring Mark Strong and Callum Turner based on the 1984 book by William Gibson which won’t premiere until January 22, 2027  and finally Silo which is debuting season 3 soon and also featured a separate multi-sensory interactive experience at SDCC.  There was also a separate preview of Dark Matter season 2 on Friday night.

First up was Matchbox the movie, based on the popular line of toy cars, which surprisingly got a live-action adaption before its rival Hotwheels, although there is supposedly one directed by John Chu in the works(for the record they are both owned by the same parent company, Mattel). The movie, which is heading straight to streaming on October 9th, stars John Cena as an undercover CIA agent who gets his childhood friends(including Jessica Alba) involved in an internation adventure. Cast members John Cena, Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Teyonah Parris, and Arturo Castro.were on hand for the panel and A trailer was shown

After the Matchbox movie which got a panel on the second season of Dark Matter featuring the cast(Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Connelly, Alice Braga, Dayo Okeniyi) as well as author and creator Blake Crouch, co-writer/producer Jacquelyn Ben-Zekry, and executive producer Matt Tolmach. They discussed their experience filming and what exciting things fans can expect for season 2 of the series which deals with the multiverse.

Following the discussion of Dark Matter season 2 we got a brief preview of the upcoming 10 episode series Neuromancer from showrunner Graham Roland. Star Callum Turner couldn’t be there in person, but managed to send a quick video message.

The Neuromancer sneak peak was followed by John Francis Daly and Jonathan Goldstein previewing their new comedy movie Mayday starring the unlikely pair of Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh in what was jokingly described as a “comedic version of the movie Misery” The film features Ryan Reynolds playing a United State Air Force pilot who is stuck behind enemy lines in the Soviet Union during the 1980s and gets some help from Kenneth Branagh’s character and was inspired by buddy comedy movies of the 80s. An extended clip was shown.

Then the cast and creators were on hand to discuss one of Apple TV’s newest hits, with 19 emmy Nominations, the horror comedy series Widow’s Bay. They discussed the show’s surprise success and increasing popularity which led them to describe it as a “water cooler show”

The 2-hour panel was finally concluded with a discussion and preview of the series Silo, which is currently airing its third season. Creator Graham Yoast and most of the cast(including Rebecca Ferguson who is also the executive producer) talked about the show’s success and what fans can expect to see as season 3 continues

All in all it looked to be a good year for Apple TV at San Diego Comic Con this year with plenty for fans to be excited for and tons of new shows and movies for everyone.
