San Diego Comic Con 2026 – My Adventures With Superman Season 3 Panel

With My Adventures With Superman in the middle of its 3rd season, the cast and crew of the show hosted a panel at San Diego Comic Con that delved into how the season and the overall series has progressed, as well as the show’s immediate and upcoming future. The panel was chock full of teasers and insights into the show.

The third season is adapting one of Superman’s most iconic arcs: The Death and Return of Superman. The first half of the show has covered the “death” part of the story. Now it is transitioning into the Reign of the Supermen storyline. This one introduces a new cast of villains that are less morally grey and more pure evil. It will promise some intense battles featuring the return of Superman’s array of powers. It’s akin to shonen anime like Dragon Ball and Jujutsu Kaisen.

Showrunners Jake Wyatt and Brendan Clougher revealed that as the show has progressed, they’ve tailored the scripts to match the specific performances from each cast member. For example, instead of creating a Lois Lane that follows previous iterations of the character, they’re writing one that brings out the best of Lois Lane’s voice actor Alice Lee. It’s an interesting way of writing the cast. The showrunners stated this has removed pressure of living up to expectations of past character iterations by writers like Richard Donner and Bruce Timm.

One of the most eye-opening parts of the panel was when they discussed the influences on the show’s 90s anime art style. The creators grew up on the Toonami block from Adult Swim. They watched anime like Dragon Ball, Cowboy Bebop, and One Piece. Due to this influence, they wanted to incorporate those kinds of designs into the shows they were working on. And as the show has delved more into romance, a lot of effort has gone into making Superman’s design “cuter” and more appealing for female viewers.

Another big part of the panel was discussing major plot points of the season. When it came to introducing Johnathan Kent, the writers wanted to do something different with the character. To that end, they introduced him via a time machine and time travel. This change was meant to challenge Lois’ view on the lives she’s trying to build for Clark and herself. She’ll have to deal with the fact that life will never be that simple.

The panel also brought an exciting update on the spin-off show My Adventures With Green Lantern starring Jessica Cruz. The showrunners explained that the series is currently being animated by partners in South Korea. It has a very different tone compared to My Adventures With Superman. Because emotions help power the Green Lantern rings, the show will, in the panelist’s words, “double down” on the emotional lives of its teenage cast. It will be in the same vein as shojo anime like Sailor Moon and Fruits Basket.

Unfortunately, the panel also brought some bad news. There hasn’t been a greenlight for season 4 of the show yet. This decision isn’t in the hands of anyone from Adult Swim. Instead, that decision is from DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. That’s because My Adventures With Superman started before the two became studio leads, and they need to sign off on things. Thankfully, based on panel comments, the show fits the direction of where DC wants to go with its franchises. Hopefully, fans shouldn’t be left disappointed when season 3 wraps up next month.
