Known as one of the world’s largest celebrations of pop culture and loved by fans internationally, Comic-Con is returning to the San Diego Convention Center from July 23-26, 2026. Is San Diego ready for what’s to come? With all attendee badges long since sold out, 130,000+ badge-holders will be bound for the sunny city of San Diego to explore what SDCC has to offer its 2026 attendees.
Meanwhile, thousands more will be descending upon Downtown San Diego to explore the public pop-ups, activations, photo-ops, interactive walkthroughs, and much more. Even without a coveted Comic-Con badge, San Diego residents and visitors will have plenty of immersive off-site fan experiences to enjoy throughout the city. For example, Petco Park will offer free-access interactive zones, and many restaurants in the Gaslamp Quarter will offer themed dining experiences and special deals. With or without a badge, there will be Comic-Con fun for everyone!
From July 23-26, SDCC 2026 will offer its badge-holding attendees a diverse selection of informational panels, hands-on workshops, photo-ops, lively mixers, friendly debates, expert-led discussions, and Q&As with pop culture icons and revolutionaries. 2026 attendees can view day-by-day panels by accessing the Comic-Con 2026 Programming Schedule, which lists panels covering topics such as delving into animation history, ways to combat creative burnout, how to balance your career and hobbies, exploring career options in the entertainment industry, and much more. Panels that celebrate well-loved series Adventure Time, SpongeBob, Pokémon, Winx Club, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and many more can also be anticipated.
With such a vast selection, 2026 attendees may feel overwhelmed and unsure about what to choose or how to divide their time appropriately at Comic-Con. As someone who has attended Comic-Con three years in a row, lives and breathes my special interests, and has trouble with decisions, I understand the mixed feelings that accompany so many choices. You’re excited, but not sure where to start, and that’s okay. There’s no one way to enjoy Comic-Con, so pick what’s right for you. Choose what interests you, what works for your schedule, and whatever won’t overload you. Recognize and respect your energy levels, and if you’re still unsure about how to approach something as large-scale as Comic-Con, check out our breakdown of convention etiquette and how it can help make for a better fan con experience.
To make your Comic-Con 2026 experience memorable and manageable, I recommend that all badge-holding attendees upload the official Comic-Con International app. LIVE and FREE to download, the official Comic-Con International app acts as a digital guide with up-to-date information, complete programming schedules, interactive maps, and a list of all the SDCC exhibitors. Using the ‘My Schedule’ component of the official app, attendees can browse panels, screenings, and other special events, and create a customized itinerary. The app will also notify users if favored panels or other events conflict in time, so I recommend utilizing it to map your Comic-Con 2026 attendance. I certainly do!
As I mentioned earlier, SDCC 2026 will offer a variety of panels delving into different genres, fandoms, and special interests for its attendees. For example, horror fans may be interested in the “Creature Craft: Visionaries of Horror Comics Share Their Secrets” panel, which will explore the creation of fan-favorite monsters and other unforgettable horrors with talented comic creators. On the other hand, romance lovers may be interested in the “Love in Every Universe: The Great Romance Trope Debate,” which will delve into the tropes that have fans hungry for more love stories. And fantasy enthusiasts may be interested in the “Bringing Fantasy High to WEBTOON: Spotlight on Derek V. Song” panel, where said comic writer will discuss his work adapting webnovels into webcomics and bringing them to the premier platform for digital comics, WEBTOON.
Any webcomic readers will also be excited to know that the “Creature Craft” panel will host WEBTOON Originals creator, Punko, who is responsible for the horror series Stagtown and the comedy series Cinderella Boy, and the “Love in Every Universe” panel will host WEBTOON Originals creator, ROSEOAK, who is responsible for the romance series, Not So Silent, and E.M. Wilson, the author of the 18+ romance series, Situationship. Along with these Creator-driven panels, WEBTOON will make major announcements and offer exclusive first looks during its flagship panel, “What’s Next From WEBTOON Entertainment.” If you want to learn more about the creators specified above or what WEBTOON has planned for its fans, stay tuned with us at The Game of Nerds! I’ll be on-site and unveiling more AFTER Comic-Con!
SDCC 2026 attendees (and fashion enthusiasts) can look forward to the fandom fashion and lifestyle brand Her Universe hosting its 12th Annual Her Universe Fashion Show, where twenty contestants will deliver one-of-a-kind designs inspired by DC. Returning to the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego on July 23, the Her Universe Fashion Show will start at 6 PM PST and will be free to attend, badge or no badge. Seating for the show, however, will be limited, and attendees will require a physical wristband that will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. With designs inspired by DC, audience members can expect to recognize geek couture that may reflect DC characters such as Superman, Batman, Harley Quinn, and the Joker. And at the end of the show, two winners will be selected, one by the audience and one by an expert panel of judges. Be ready to be amazed!
Appreciators of the arts can also look forward to the Comic-Con 2026 Art Show, which will also be open to the public, badge or no badge. FREE to enter and also hosted by the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, the Comic-Con Art Show will display numerous original drawings, paintings, sculptures, jewelry pieces, and many more “odd” items created by professional and amateur artists. From July 23-26, viewers can browse (and potentially purchase through a silent auction or quick sale) what’s on display. Just know that no pre-approved photography will be permitted to respect the artists displaying their work.
