Put on the cape. Monday needs you.
Marvel got us off the couch. Star Wars reminded us the Force was always there. This week the DC Universe steps up, and if you know anything about DC, you know these heroes do not do anything halfway. They carry worlds on their shoulders, lose everything, and show up anyway. Every single time.
That is the energy we are bringing into this Monday. Five quotes from five corners of the DC Universe. All of them earned. All of them ready to work for you this week.
1. “It’s not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.” — Bruce Wayne, Batman Begins
Bruce Wayne has every excuse not to show up. Grief, trauma, resources that could buy him a comfortable life a thousand times over. And he chose this. Every single day he chose it. Not because of what happened to him, but because of what he decided to do about it.
That is the whole quote right there. You are not defined by your circumstances, your past, your setbacks, or what anyone has decided about you. You are defined by what you do next. Monday is your next. Make it count.
2. “You are stronger than you believe. You have greater powers than you know.” — Antiope, Wonder Woman
Antiope trained Diana harder than anyone else because she knew something Diana did not yet believe about herself. She was not being cruel. She was being honest. The gap between who Diana thought she was and who she actually was could only be closed by pushing through the doubt.
Most of us are living inside a smaller version of ourselves than actually exists. We self-edit, we hesitate, we decide what we can handle before we ever try. Antiope had no patience for that and neither should you. You are stronger than you are currently giving yourself credit for. This week is the proof.
3. “What’s the point of having strength if you don’t use it to help people?” — Clark Kent, Superman: The Animated Series
Clark Kent did not become Superman to be famous. He became Superman because it would have been unconscionable not to. He had something and he used it. Simple as that.
This one hits differently when you think about your own strengths. Not superpowers, just the actual things you are genuinely good at. Are you using them? Are you putting them to work for the people around you, the projects that matter, the life you actually want? Strength that sits on the shelf is not strength. It is wasted potential wearing a cape. Use it.
4. “Life doesn’t give us purpose. We give life purpose.” — The Flash, The Flash (TV Series)
Barry Allen has had every reason to believe the universe is working against him. He has lost more than most people can imagine and he keeps running anyway. Not because life handed him a reason to. Because he decided to create one.
Purpose is not something you find. It is something you build. You build it by deciding what matters and then showing up for it. Monday after Monday, choice after choice. Barry Allen figured that out at the speed of light. You can get there at whatever pace works for you.
5. “In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight.” — Green Lantern Corps Oath, DC Comics
The Green Lantern oath is not just a cool thing to say before a fight. It is a covenant. It is a declaration made out loud, every single time, that you are showing up no matter what the conditions are. Brightest day, meaning when everything is easy. Blackest night, meaning when it absolutely is not.
Say something out loud about your week. Decide what you are committing to before Monday gets a chance to talk you out of it. The Lanterns knew that intention spoken is intention kept. Your week deserves its own oath. What is yours?
