Star Wars has been appearing on our comic book pages almost as long as its been gracing out big screen with Marvel’s first Star Wars comic series dropping in 1977. Since that time there have been thousands of Star Wars comics, but here are just a few Star Wars comics ideas I would like to see
Yoda and Dooku
There have been many Master and Apprentice relationships within the Star Wars universe from Obi-wan and Anakin to Darth Maul and Darth Sidious, but one that hasn’t been explored very much, but hinted at was the apprenticeship of Count Dooku to jedi master Yoda. With the recent Jedi Knights series ending after only 10 issues I feel like this could be a spiritual successor still exploring the Jedi order in later years of the Republic while also providing a new time period to explore. I could see this being either a 6-issue miniseries or perhaps even an ongoing with cameos from plenty of other jedi including perhaps Dooku’s own apprentice Qui-Gon Jinn
Old Man Fett
This story has the potential to be the Star Wars version of Marvel’s Old Man Logan, following the last adventure of the famed bounty hunter. There have been other stories involving Boba Fett’s last mission, but they were set in the expanded universe and if the lackluster reception of his own Disney plus series Book of Boba Fett I don’t see us finding out Boba’s fate in live-action form aside from maybe a surprise appearance in Mandolorian and Grogu. A comic miniseries would be perfect though and offer the chance for Han Solo, Lando, Luke and others to cameo and tell the story of what happened to Boba before(or after?) The Force Awakens.
Han Solo/Indiana Jones: The Falcon Gambit
Harrison Ford’s two most iconic roles had a crossover of sorts in Star Wars Tales #19, but I wanna see a full fledged crossover. It might be hard to get both characters together, but the Indiana Jones franchise has already established time travel(remember Star Wars is a long time ago) and interstellar travel. Perhaps Han and the Millenium Falcon are suck into a wormhole that transports them through time and space to 1940s-1950s Earth. I could see this as miniseries or even a one-shot
Qui-gon and Anakin
Back in the early 2000s there was a short lived comic series called Star Wars Infinities that reimagined pivotal events from all three original trilogy movies, sort of a Star Wars version of Marvel’s What if. I could see this idea as a spiritual successor to that idea exploring how things would have been different if Obi-wan had died in that duel with Darth Maul instead of Qui-gon who would go on to train Anakin. I could see this as a one-shot or maybe a short 3 extended issue miniseries. Better yet, I would like to see a revival of Star Wars Infinities covering the prequel and sequel films and this storyline could be the first part
History of the Skywalkers
The Skywalkers are at the center of the Star Wars Saga, but beyond Anakin and Luke we don’t know much about the family. What about Shmi before she became pregnant with Anakin? What were Anakin’s grandparents like? Have the Skywalkers always lived on Tatooine?
While Luke and Anakin already get enough attention it would be cool to see a series that explores the rest of the Skywalkers going back generations, perhaps even to the first Skywalkers. I could see this being an anthology miniseries with each issue focus on one Skywalker generation or maybe an over-sized anthology one-shot with different stories set throughout the Skywalker lineage. If they want to include Rey as an honorary Skywalker maybe use her as part of a framing device to tell all the stories.
Darth Vader and Boba Fett vs Predator and Alien
With Predator, Alien and Star Wars all under the Disney umbrella and comics about all 3 sci-fi franchises being published by Marvel I think it’s time for all 3 to come together and I think a comic mini-series featuring Darth Vader and Boba Fett teaming up to take on both a Yautja and xenomorph would be a fun way to do that. I could see the story involving Vader and Boba Fett being trapped on a jungle planet(perhaps Felucia) and having to survive a Predator hunting them while a xenomorph as roams free.
Those are just a few Star Wars comics we at Game of Nerds would like to see. What are some of your dream Star Wars comics? Let us know in the comments.
