There is a long storied history of superheroes in videogames from the masterpieces like the Batman:Arkham series to absolute trash like Superman 64, but while characters such as Batman and Spiderman are still releasing quality games maybe it’s time for some of these other heroes to return to the videogame spotlight

Hulk

Hulk: Ultimate Destruction is still remembered as one of the best superhero games in general and since it’s release in 2005 the only other game starring the Hulk with gotten is the 2008  lackluster game tie-in into Hulk’s one MCU solo movie and I think it’s time for Ultimate Destruction to get a proper followup. I would love to see an adaption of either the Planet Hulk storyline which sent him to another planet or the World War Hulk storyline which saw him fight most of his “allies” in the Marvel Universe. A game combining both storylines would also be cool. If we can’t get a brand new game I would also settle for a remaster of Ultimate Destruction on current-gen.

Batman Beyond

This may be cheating a little bit as Batman is still going strong in the videogame sphere with a new Lego Batman game coming soon and the recent Arkham Shadow, but I am thinking of the future version of Batman: Terry Mcginnis aka Batman Beyond who hasn’t had a game since 2000 adaption of Return of the Joker movie and I would love to see more of Terry whether it be in an Arkham game(which we’ve talked about before) his own game, or even a rerelease of Return of the Joker. Maybe make him one of the main characters in a third Injustice Game set in the future of the Injustice timeline called Injustice Beyond? A co-op game that teams both the present and future versions of Batman would be wonderful to see as well.

Deadpool

The Merc with a Mouth did get his own game all the way back in 2013, but his popularity has only grown since then with a trilogy of movies. He did get a VR game in 2025, but I think it’s time for a new full-blown adventure. Maybe a followup to his first game or I could see him perhaps cameoing in the upcoming Wolverine and spinning-off from there. Whatever they do they have to keep his Meta chaos.

Superman

For one of the most iconic superheroes of all time Superman hasn’t had a very bright history in terms of videogames(see the aformentioned Superman 64). After the success of his newest movie last year I think it’s time he gets another chance to shine in the videogame medium. I has been over 20 years since his last solo game: The tie-in to Superman Returns. While the Batman: Arkham system wouldn’t translate perfectly for Superman I think he needs his own version of the Arkham games. I personally would love to see a level set on Krypton as well as the chance to play as some of his supporting cast like Supergirl, Krypto and even maybe a level as his archnemesis Lex Luthor.

Wonder Woman

This one might be cheating a little bit as unlike Superman, who actually has a history with solo games, Wonder Woman hasn’t even been given the chance, but we almost saw a Wonder Woman game from Monolith studios which was unfortunately cancelled so I think Wonder Woman still deserves a chance at solo videogame stardom. It might actually be cool to see a trilogy of interconnected Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman solo games that lead into a co-op Justice League game.

X-men

The x-men have a pretty storied history when it comes to videogames, both good and bad, but they haven’t have a major release since X-men Destiny in 2011, almost 15 years ago and with them about to enter the MCU  I think it’s time they make a return to videogames as well. There is a rumored Insomniac X-men game to follow-up the upcoming Wolverine solo game, but either a continuation of the X-men Legends series with a third game set in the Krakoa era or perhaps even some kind of spiritual successor X-men: The Official Game would also be cool to see

Punisher

Much like Deadpool Punisher has grown in popularity since his last game-starring role in 2009’s Punisher : No Mercy for PS3 so it might be time for a new punisher game especially as he gets ready to star in his own Disney Plus special and have a role in Spiderman: Brand New Day. While the game wouldn’t have to tie into the MCU it would be cool if the could get Jon Bernthal back to reprise his role as Frank Castle and also bring in cameos from other New York based Marvel heroes like Spiderman or Daredevil

Those are just a few superheroes we feel are deserving of new games. What are you thoughts? What superhero videogame would you like to see?
