Calling all Abbott Elementary fans! Abbott Elementary returned to SDCC (San Diego Comic Con) this year with the laughs, love, and characters we’ve been missing. Abbott Elementary is a four-time Emmy award winning show that completed airing its 4th season this past April. Since then, fans of Abbott have been missing their weekly episodes that help us escape our worlds and enter a very specific one—the classroom. However, in good news, the cast traveled this past week to San Diego and gave us fans the crumbs we’ve been needing!
A BACKYARD SDCC BASH
Abbott began their run at SDCC this year with a themed ‘Very Abbott Block Party’ that ran from Thursday, July 24th until Sunday, July 27th! Last year at the 2024 Comic Con, Abbott threw a carnival called A.V.A Fest that was inspired by some fan-favorite episodes of the season! That carnival included rides, attractions, and some entertainment based on our favorite characters. This year, Abbott went a similar route with the block party—making it even bigger knowing how popular A.V.A Fest was.
This year’s Philly-themed bash had rides, including a huge ferris wheel with some amazing views, booths, free giveaways, and school-themed pickups. Fans could get themselves some exclusive pins at ‘The District’, as well as bucket hats and block party bags at ‘The Lost & Found’. Alongside some Philly water ice, this block party was a great way to cool off, celebrate the con, and get ready for season five of Abbott Elementary! Check out the video below to see all of the fun!
SEASON FIVE PROMO
The cast of Abbott Elementary have also begun making the rounds this year to get us ready for what’s to come in season five! The new season premieres on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the 8:30/7:30c time-slot on ABC.
The seven main members of the cast—Quinta Brunson, Tyler James Williams, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Janelle James, Chris Perfetti, Lisa Ann Walter, and William Stanford Davis—participated in some great interviews. The crew stopped by the Comic-Con Variety Studio Presented by Google TV, as well as The Hollywood Report’s Lounge at SDCC.
The cast answers some questions, teases new characters, and gets us pumped up for a new season of Abbott! Check out the interviews below to get the inside scoop, from the cast, on what’s to come in season five.
ABBOTT’S 2025 PANEL
This year’s 2025 brought some A+ effort that is getting fans excited! The panel starred show creator Quinta Brunson, who plays the lovable Janine Teagues, alongside her six cast mates, and executive-producers Patrick Schumacker, Randall Einhorn, and Brian Rubenstein. Before the cast even got onstage, fans inside the SDCC’s Indigo Ballroom saw an inside screening of one of Abbott’s episodes from season four, setting the room aflame with fan excitement to see the cast, and learn about what’s to come in season five.
The conversation of the panel was full of heart and love from the show and it’s cast, as questions were asked about the writer’s room, how the cast has so much chemistry, and some favorite moments of filming. Audiences of the panels and fans could see how this group of people work so well together, and understand how much heart is put into this show. Abbott Elementary is a show that works not just to encapsulate the image of a teacher’s day-to-day, but it also works on honoring it. What Quinta created is, essentially, a miracle. To create a sitcom that airs not just on streaming, but on cable, is going on it’s fifth season, and still continues to captures new viewers, audiences, and fans is incredible. The love for Abbott Elementary shows in all aspects of television creation—the writing, the growth of characters and relationships, maintaining the same amazing cast—all of it adds up to one spectacular show. This years panels and attractions at SDCC 2025 shows just how much fans care for a show like Abbott Elementary, and why it continues to be a hit sitcom today.
Abbott Elementary is available for streaming on Hulu, and it’s fifth season will premiere on ABC on October 1st this year
