If you love survival zombie games, I’m pretty sure you’ve heard about Dead Island 2, and that’s the main reason you’re here. I just recently played this game with my friends, and we got it for free on Epic Games. Of course, I had to write a quick review of the entire game. As someone who had played The Forest before, this game was a breath of fresh air. For starters, I really had fun playing this game, and I’m here to tell you why.

First things first, if you’re planning to play this with your friends online, you need to have fast wireless internet because this game is just so bandwidth-heavy. So, before anything else, make sure you check your internet connection and close any unnecessary apps or tabs to lighten the load on your internet.

How Does Dead Island 2 Work?

Okay, let me break it down the way I experienced it. Dead Island 2 is one of those games that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s what made it so much fun for me and my friends. It’s a first-person zombie game (hello motion sickness), but instead of the usual gloomy survival vibe, it feels more like a chaotic vacation in zombie-infested LA.

You start by picking a character. There are only a few to choose from, and each character comes with their own special abilities. I picked Dani, well, just because, and I think it was a great decision. The good thing about this game is that there’s no slow build-up or long tutorials. You’re literally put right into the action. The dialogues are what made this game 10x better – it’s hilarious as heck!

But you have to know that before you can unlock the co-op mode, you need to reach a certain stage/level playing by yourself. If you get easily disgusted by blood, this game might not be for you. I’m not kidding. Dead Island 2 goes all in with the gore.

The Best Part of the Game? Combat.

My favorite part of Dead Island 2 is the combat. Like literally, it’s like what you see in gore movies on streaming deals you’ve had before. It is mostly melee, so you are literally face-to-face with the zombies. You’re literally bashing zombie skulls in with hammers, bats, wrenches—whatever you can find. And it’s not just button-mashing either. You can dodge, block, and even upgrade your weapons to set zombies on fire or electrocute them. I built this electric katana-looking thing inside the mansion, and it made killing zombies more satisfying. It’s super gross, but… don’t judge me on this, it’s really really satisfying.

The map is broken into different zones like Beverly Hills, Venice Beach, and other parts of zombified LA. It’s fun to explore and collect items so you can upgrade and craft items. You’ll also find random survivors and secret loot throughout the game. The graphics are also very realistic, so it’s really fun to play.

How Many Players Can Play Dead Island 2?

Currently, up to three players can play the game. Originally, it allowed for 4 players, but then the developers changed it to three. I personally think it was a bad decision, but then I understand why they did that. It’s likely to give the players a more tight-knit experience and make the game a bit more challenging. So if you’re a group of 4, one of you won’t be able to join the game. Playing solo is fine, but Dead Island 2 really shines when you play with friends.

So, Is Dead Island 2 Worth Buying?

Definitely! It’s super fun to play with friends and has a high replay value. This game is available on different platforms, including Steam, Epic Games, and Xbox. Currently, it costs $49.99 on Steam but it goes on sale every now and then, so make sure to add it to your wishlist if you don’t want to buy at the original price. Happy playing!
