Here we are again to recap another week of Neighbours, and the villainy has absolutely gone through the roof in Erinsborough. Let’s get down to what went on in this week’s episodes.

Aaron Overdoes It

Aaron is helping Cara get in shape for the police academy, but he’s turned into some sort of over zealous food police, seemingly popping up out of the undergrowth every time Cara so much as thinks about eating something he doesn’t think is healthy. When the boys buy Cara a jar of gummy bears for Mother’s Day, Aaron spots it and swoops in to change the sweets for a sugar-free version, without telling Cara.

Cara can’t resist and stuffs the whole lot into her mouth, causing a bubbly gut worthy of some of the more colourful online reviews of this sort of product. It’s at this point that Aaron has to confess what he did, and Remi tells him to back the flip off.

I know this was a silly, comedy storyline, but I’m so glad this is how it ended, because I was finding the militant policing of someone else’s diet really off-putting – even if you’re working with a personal trainer, you wouldn’t expect them to pop up and swat a Dairy Milk out of your hand every time you strayed, all they’re supposed to be doing is giving you guidance. Thankfully, Remi said exactly what I was thinking.

The Amanda Drama Continues

Darcy has stolen a couple of million dollars from Amanda’s bank account, so when he hears that Byron is planning on giving her a hand with her banking, Darcy gets a bit rattled. It’s imperative to him that nobody goes snooping around in Amanda’s business, so he tries extra hard to alienate her from her family even more, by filling her head with fears about her relatives trying to take advantage of her. He then smashes the mug Byron made for her, and shows it to the family, to illustrate to them how angry Amanda is about their meddling.

Originally I thought that Darcy’s plan was going to be to get her to change her will so everything was left to him, but he has the money already without that happening, so why is he sticking around? I’m curious as to what his end game is, and why he’s not just trundling off into the sunset with Amanda’s money, twiddling his imaginary villain’s moustache.

Also, who physically does their banking these days anyway? I don’t think I’ve ever had to sit down at a table and go through all my accounts like that. I remember my mum balancing her accounts in the 1980s, but in 2025 it seems a little unnecessary.

Karl Suspects Darcy

I would say that Karl’s no fool, but I don’t really have a lot of evidence to support that, so I’ll just say that he’s on to Darcy’s monkey business. After Darcy mentioned that he’d spoken with Dee, which was later proven to be untrue, Karl contacts another person Darcy mentioned reconciling with – Tess Bell. Now, I don’t really remember Tess Bell because I think this storyline coincided with when I was being an insufferable gap year backpacker with no consistent access to a telly, but I gather that he treated her quite badly back in the day when there was a bit of a love triangle between Darcy, Dee and Tess.

Karl meets up with Tess and finds out that Darcy and Tess later married, and that Darcy was very unpleasant to be married to. He gaslit her, then “borrowed” a load of money from her which he never paid back – and they most definitely haven’t reconciled. When Karl confronts Darcy with yet another lie, Darcy is furious and turns on the waterworks. He later pays Tess back and, yet again, Susan just dumbly believes everything Darcy is saying to her, despite all the evidence to the contrary.

Karl is not convinced. He apologises to Darcy just for the sake of workplace relations, but he doesn’t hide the fact that he thinks Darcy is up to his old tricks again. In order to try to keep Karl from getting up in his business any further, Darcy switches Karl’s herbal supplements, presumably for the painkillers he was addicted to previously.

The stuff Darcy is doing with Amanda is bad enough, but to also throw Karl back into the middle of painkiller addiction is so, so cruel. I do love having a good villain on Neighbours though.

Chelsea Hasn’t Changed

Chelsea now knows that Paul isn’t Thomas’ father, but she’s doubling down in a big way. She suggests Paul sets up a trust fund for Thomas so she can use to money to pay Jeffrey to keep quiet about Thomas being his child. Meanwhile, with Thomas’ various health scares, Paul and Chelsea are repeatedly thrown into emotionally charged situations together, and she eventually kisses him. Paul goes along with it at first, but then he pulls away and says it was all a big mistake.

Poor Terese has been feeling very sidelined by Thomas and Chelsea, so when Paul buys her a big diamond necklace, flowers and lots of other romantic treats, she finally feels like they’re in a good place and starts to feel more secure about Chelsea being in their lives. She confidently declares that she knows Paul would never hurt her, not knowing that he’s only made all of the romantic gestures because he’s got a guilty conscience. Yikes. Poor Terese is going to be devastated when she finds out. And she will find out.

Chelsea can smell blood in the water now, so she is pushing her pursuit of Paul into overdrive. This is all going to end up being very, very messy.

Wendy is Unhinged

As we saw with the whole substitute teaching saga, Wendy loves nothing more than to come across a very small problem and turn it into some sort of major drama. The thing she’s being unhinged about at the moment is Sandra, the woman who has a crush on Andrew, and Nicolette is not helping

In some sort of folie à deux situation, Nicolette has also become way to invested in whether or not Andrew is cheating on Wendy, and she is whipping Wendy up into even more of an unhinged frenzy than she would be normally. There’s a dating profile that seems to look like Andrew (I’m still not convinced it’s actually him), and Andrew has suddenly started exercising more frequently, so Wendy is convinced that it’s because he’s having an affair with Sandra. Rather than just speak to him about it like a normal person, she’s peering around corners to spy on him, and allowing Nicolette to try to catfish him on the dating app.

To make matters worse, Sandra is still hanging around like a bad smell, doing things like marching into the police station and demanding to speak to Andrew. I think what’s going on here is that Sandra is stalking him, and she’s made the dating profile too, but Wendy isn’t going to be easily persuaded that Andrew isn’t playing away from home.

A Few Random Notes

As usual, here are a few random notes I took while watching Neighbours this week:

  • Did Nicolette really need a lemon and some celery to explain her very simple catfishing plan?
  • Max and Agnes hiding from Moira was really cute and funny.
  • Sadie wafting around in one of Amanda’s hideous kaftans is so not her style.
  • Tess: “I half expected Dee Bliss to turn up.” LOL.
