It was Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Emerald City Comic Con. Deadpool fans bounced with excitement. Parents lined the room to watch their children dance. The chatter of comic book aficionados filled the air. This was the atmosphere during the wait for the Bye Bye Bye Deadpool Dance Lesson hosted by Robyn Warren. I knew the lesson would be a hit with the event room packed at capacity. Wait ’til you see the video of the lesson below!

Robyn has a diverse teaching and dance background and has even co-founded the Geek Girl Strong organization. Her experience working with special needs physical education students gives her an edge in the convention space, where she encounters new students of all ages and ability levels. Her warm presence, strong voice, and devotion to her craft brought out the giddiness and a hum of excitement from her new students in the assemblage of fans. Good thing she’s always been a nerd and a dancer — she knows exactly what her audiences crave!

The most interesting thing I noticed during the event was Robyn’s dedication to finding movement solutions for everyone. Because her student demographic was expansive, she had the opportunity to aid them in a creative variety of ways. My favorite tip was to a fan in a wheelchair, who she instructed to use her arms instead of legs for some movements if she needed to. And in that moment, the girl started rocking her chair in time with the movement, lifting one wheel and then the other. I could tell from the smile on Robyn’s face that the confidence in that fan would stick in her mind forever.

Warren mentioned that she had studied several variations of the “Bye Bye Bye” dance from music videos, live performances, and fan posts. This appeared to help her adapt the dance moves for different ranges of motion and speeds, which I think is quite clever and creative. She went above and beyond to take care of her students/Deadpool enthusiasts – something Wade Wilson himself would be damn proud of.

Robyn Warren’s Deadpool Dance Lesson was an energizing and exciting hour at Emerald City Comic Con this year, so I was disappointed to see it held in a space that could not accommodate more fans. Deadpool fans lined up in hordes, but staff turned many away because the small space filled up quickly. If Robyn has a larger space to work with, and functioning speakers her students can hear throughout the room, I believe her future lessons could be the talk of the con. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for the 2026 Emerald City Comic Con show!
