Coming on February 25, 2025, World of Warcraft is receiving its first major patch of The War Within expansion. Sticking with the underground theme of the expansion, players will be visiting Undermine, the goblin capital of Azeroth. There is a lot of new content to go over, so let’s get right into it.

While the release is February 25th, the new raid and season two dungeons will be coming out a week after, on March 4th. This is not that there will not be a ton of stuff to do starting on February 25, which this post will go over first. Then the March 4release content will be next.

February 25th Content

Kicking off this content, all classes will be getting changes to their talent trees and other balancing changes. While these changes are huge, this post won’t go over them because there are so many changes and everything that is being changed (and how) is still being determined by WOW developers.

The next biggest addition is the new zone Undermine, where there will be new story quests, achievements, reputations, collectables, and the all-new D.R.I.V.E mechanic that will allow players to traverse the city with speed and style. Specifics on the story will be left for the player to discover, but it will be tying the current story of Xal’atath corrupting the people of Azeroth.

There will also be two additional delves, one in the Undermine zone, and another at the south end of The Ringing Deep, both of which will be goblin and void corruption themed. Existing delves will also get new story lines so that players can get a fresh take on existing content that they will need to do gear up in 11.1. Whether or not the hardest difficulty of these new delves will be available on February 25 is still up in the air, but going off the beginning of The War Within, they probably will not be available until March 4th.

Lastly, there will also be a new dungeon, Operation: Floodgate, available to play from normal to mythic difficulty until March 4th, where this dungeon would also feature a mythic plus dungeon for all of season two. All the other eight The War Within dungeons will also be updated in terms of rewards to be more relevant for the new item level players will need to progress the new content.

March 4th Content

This is when the actual season two content will begin. It includes all eight of the new dungeons in mythic plus rotation; a new PVP arena map and PVP season; and most importantly, the all-new raid called “Liberation of Undermine.”

Starting with mythic plus, there are huge revamps to mythic plus system which is making mythic plus overall easier than season one. Unlike past seasons, there will also be a new achievement that rewards a mount for reaching 3000 mythic plus score. Sticking with the Goblin theme, here are the eight dungeons in rotation for season two of The War Within:

  • Cinderbrew Meadery (from The War Within)
  • Darkflame Cleft (from The War Within)
  • The Rookery (from The War Within)
  • Priory of the Sacred Flame (from The War Within)
  • Operation: Floodgate (the newest dungeon introduced for the first time in 11.1 of The War Within)
  • The MOTHERLOAD!! (from Battle for Azeroth)
  • Theater of Pain (from Shadowlands)
  • Operation Mechagon: Workshop (one wing of mega dungeon from Battle for Azeroth)

Moving onto PVP, the new PVP map will be set in the Undermine arena. Player ranks will reset, so all players must re-gear and re-progress to get to their desired rank. New mounts and transmog items are available to players who play enough PVP throughout the season.

Finally, the “Liberation of Undermine” raid will be released with all of difficulties available on March 4. This raid features eight new raid bosses, some of which are the most infamous goblin characters in WOW lore. New with this raid is a renown track specifically for the raid, very similar to a reputation system for the raid, called the “Gallagio Loyalty Rewards Club.” Players can progress this renown system by defeating 4 bosses on any difficulty per week and can only be progressed one level per week with a total of 20 renown levels. The rewards from this renown track include skips throughout the raid, more damage/healing while in raid, and goblin themed collectables. Overall, there is going to be a lot of new WOW content released in a short amount of time, so there will be a ton of stuff from players to do in WOW. This new content should hold player over until the summer when the final raid of The War Within will be released and new details on the next expansion should be announced.
