With the recent announcement of a remaster of the classic PS1 Star Wars game Jedi Power Battles and recent releases of both the remastered Battlefront Collection and Star Wars Bounty Hunter it’s a good time to be a fan of older Star Wars games, but here are 3 old school Star Wars games that have been overlooked in this remake frenzy and hopefully get their due.

Masters of Teras Kasi

Yes, Masters of Teras Kasi, which released in 1997 and is the first(and only) attempt at a Star Wars fighting game,  is infamous as one of the worst star wars game, but a lot of that was due to clunky controls and isn’t a star wars fighting game worth a redo?  With more fluid controls and better graphics a Masters of Teras Kasi remaster has the potential  to undo a star wars gaming injustice and maybe finally lead to a proper Star Wars fighting game and not just have Star Wars character relegated to appearing in other fighting games like Darth Vader, Yoda, and Vader’s apprentice in Soul Calibur IV. I wouldn’t add any characters, but perhaps make all the unlockable characters available from the start and include a revamped story mode and maybe a couple new stages.

Force Unleashed 1 and 2

Speaking of Vader’s secret apprentice he was that main character in a duo of somewhat forgotten Star Wars games in the late 2000s. Set in-between Episode III and IV The Force Unleashed and its sequel both follow Darth Vader’s secret apprentice, Starkiller(Sam Witwer) and his role in the beginning of the Rebel Alliance with plenty of lightsaber combat and cool force powers

While these games aren’t that old, with the first one coming out in 2008 and the sequel in 2010. There was also a remaster of the Wii version of the first game that came to Switch, but a proper remaster on all platforms is warranted. While it would be cool to just remaster the first game, maybe they could copy the recent Battlefront Collection and rerelease both games with improved graphics and perhaps gameplay.

While the games are now sadly considered non-cannon they are still massively fun and the desire for a third game to cap off the trilogy is still there. While it might be hard to make the plot fit in the newly-established Star Wars continuity that Disney created when the bought the franchise I think the potential is there to continue Starkiller’es story.

Demolition

This easily forgotten game, which it could be viewed as a poor Star Wars-branded clone of the popular Twisted Metal series Star Wars Demolition was also a very fun  game in its own right. Released in 2000 and created by the creators of the Twisted Metal rival franchise Vigilante 8 Demolition features 10 vehicles from the Star Wars universe including a snowspeeder, a rancor, and a podracer, Star Wars Demolition was short on story(it mostly involved a vehicular fighting tournament put on by Jabba the Hutt) but heavy on fun watching the numerous vehicles crash and bash each other. Improved graphics and controls would do a lot to recapture the nostalgia of this gem that time forgot.  Unlike Masters of Teras Kasi I think there is potential to add one or two more vehicles to the already strong lineup to make it an even 12 and add some iconic star wars vehicles that have been introduced in the last 24 years. The addition of space battles could also be welcome, although that might be a better fit for a hopeful sequel instead of a revisit of the first game.

Those are just a couple Star Wars games in need of a revisist/remaster. What Star Wars games would you like to see redone?
