The Avengers have fought many threats.  Aliens, androids, immortals, monsters and even each other.   And many of these villains always come back and consistently give the team troubles.  These villains test their might, test their resolve.  Sometimes sacrifices are made, sometimes the Avengers don’t walk away with a win.  Regardless of the threat though, each member of the team gives what they have to defend everyone that is relying on them.  It’s no easy task since their enemies are on the offense and are in need to get their goal done.  Any threat that forces the Avengers to assemble is obviously a huge problem.  Thanos and Ultron know this the best. Down the street though, the Justice League have their own enemies that comeback all the time too.  The biggest of their threats is the ruler of Apokolips himself, Darkseid.  The Justice League has to strain just to make him wobble.  But how would the Avengers fair against Darkseid?

One ground rule has to be the lineup of Avengers.  The classic characters will be there.  Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Hulk.  Black Widow and Hawkeye will also be there.  And because they were in the original line up in the very first issue of The Avengers, Ant-Man and Wasp.

The first thing that comes to mind with this fight is the physical aspect of it.  The biggest hitters of the team are Hulk, Thor and Ant-Man (if he turns the Pym particles to have him become Giant Man).  Giant-Man will more than likely be the first of the heaviest hitters to go down.  After a few hits landed on him, Darkseid will obviously retaliate with a powerful hit of his own.  And since Giant Man is just a regular man, and since the suit gives little defense, one blow from Darkseid will put an end to Giant Man quickly. Not to mention at that size, Giant Man will be much slower, so Darkseid’s omega beams will put an end to that Avenger with rapid success.  Hulk will provide a tougher fight for Darkseid.  Hulk has a very impressive resume with who he has fought.  Monsters, demons, aliens and even gods.  Each of them will never forget their fight with The Hulk.  Darkseid will fall into that category. A few chips from his rocky hide will fall.  But, Darkseid has also fought his fair share of monsters, demons, aliens and gods as well.  And has a great winning recording against him.  This is a physical embodiment of evil that puts a beat down on Superman every time they cross paths.  And Superman is someone that has unlimited amount of strength.  Darkseid could make Superman buckle without any Kryptonite.  So, if Darkseid is able to beat down someone that could beat The Hulk, then he could beat The Hulk.  Thor will be the greatest threat to Darkseid.  Much like The Hulk, Thor has fought and defeated a versatile group of enemies. He will have some type of experience with someone like Darkseid.  But again, Darkseid would have seen people like him.  In fact, Darkseid has to be built to fight gods since he has clashes with the New Gods often.  And the New Gods are the ones that replaced the old gods, much like Thor’s own pantheon.  Darkseid will have to be ready for a true fight because Thor’s godly anatomy could help withstand many of Darkseid’s physical attacks. The more that happens, Thor could enter into a warrior’s rage which will give Darkseid more problems.  However, Darkseid has his not-so-secret powerful weapons, Omega Beams.  Omega Beams have the power to knock out Superman cold and have the lethality to kill gods.  That will be Thor’s undoing.  So, although the Avengers have physical power to keep Darkseid off balance, it won’t be enough to defeat Darkseid straight up.

As for the other Avengers, Black Widow and Hawkeye will be a little factor in the fight.  Hawkeye will probably have a little bit more of a punch if he has his quiver packed with some special arrows, which he probably will.  Other than that, Hawkeye will be a non-factor along with Black Widow.  Captain America will have the strategy to flank Darkseid.  He would serve as the ‘Batman’ of the group, a man that punches above his weight.  He would surly have enough combat experience and the physicality to land shots on Darkseid that keeps him guessing.  Captain America could also dodge Darkseid’s Omega Beams as Batman did, and it may be easier for Cap to do since he’s pumped with the Super Soldier Serum.  He my in fact get the respect from Darkseid because of the grit he shows against unsurmountable odds.  However, Darkseid has fought and defeated beings much greater than Captain America.  After a few landed shots, Cap will find himself defeated.

That leaves Iron Man who is in an interesting position.  If Iron Man has a more advanced suit, which he more than likely will, he could give Darkseid a good run.  The vast and versatile arsenal from just one Iron suit, Iron Man gives himself a good chance.  But Iron man has an impressive selection of suits.  He has some that are built to fight The Hulk, Thor, Celestials, the Pheonix, and Gods. Plus, they succeed in doing what they are built for. No doubt Iron Man has one of these stored away somewhere.  And a suit like this will be called on when Darkseid comes because he falls into that category.  If Iron Man has access to a top tier suit, quickly, he will inflict devastating damage to Darkseid. All that could keep Darkseid away.  Iron Man also has access to his Iron Legion and perhaps some orbital strikes.  At the least, the Iron Legion could be body shields against Darkseid’s Omega Beams, giving Iron Man some time to come up with a plan to weaken Darkseid.  And much like Batman, Iron Man has his list of contingency plans against various threats.  So, more than likely, Iron Man would probably use the plan he has against Thanos.  However, Darkseid has an army himself which could take care of the Iron Legion.  And has the durability to walk through most of the attacks Iron Man can fire out.  On top off that Darkseid has the pure strength to outpower most of Iron Man’s attacks as well.  Once Darkseid closes the gap, Iron Man won’t have much to defend himself.  With the evil intent Darkseid has behind every hit, one punch could end Iron Man where he stands.  This could be an interesting fight though.  Iron Man could beat Darkseid with a powerful suit but if that doesn’t come quick enough or if the suit comes short just a bit, the win goes to Darkseid.  It comes down to if Stark could get access to one of these suits fast enough.

Darkseid has power that could make the strongest Avengers doubt their own strength.  And evil intent that rivals the most vile in the Marvel universe.  The Avengers will face not only a threat but a force of nature one Darkseid drops on Earth.  Most of the team doesn’t have the power on their own to defeat Darkseid on their own.  From the get go, Darkseid defeats most of the team with little effort.  That gives Darkseid a great advantage against them.  Iron Man will give the team the greatest chance against Darkseid but that depends on easy access to an all-powerful suit.  But Darkseid’s unlimited power and Omega Beams gives him an unfair advantage.  He just has too much power for a team that needs more of it.
